If only they were more durable, this would be a 5-star review
In virtually every respect, these headphones are exactly what I wanted. They sound good (though, I did need to bump my volume a lot higher than for the headphones I was used to), they feel good, they look good, etc. The only issue is that the cables are very weak, and will start falling apart way too early. After about only a year and a half, various areas of cable started to have their outer rubber fall apart. Just three years after purchase, there is no more rubber on one of the headband connector cables, the 20 ft cable is covered in about 15 ft of duct tape to keep it together, and the 3.5mm connector that goes into the bottom of the earcups has snapped in two, such that I can see the bare wires where they are soldered to the jack. Brand new, I paid $225 to get these headphones. For that price, three years is far too short to have to replace them."But they're modular! Just replace the cables!"Cables are about $20, and the headband (remember, the rubber on those connectors is falling apart, too) is about $100. To replace parts at that expense for wear that happens from basic use is unacceptable. For comparison, the pair of headphones I was using before these cost $20 and weren't even showing any real wear going into 5 years after buying them, save for the pleather coating on the earcups having disintegrated. So yeah, these things would be amazing, but falling apart in just three years is unacceptable. For $225, I expect them to be able to take basic daily use of "put on head, use computer, put on desk, repeat for three years".

Wonderful sound. A little too strong in the low ...
AiAiAi TMA-2 (Studio Preset) - New - $225Had to see what all the hubbub was all about and unfortunately there was no place at this time in Los Angeles where I could test them out first. Wonderful sound. A little too strong in the low end. Has a subtle reverb quality on everything (maybe it's just me). A little too warm for what I was looking for as a professional monitoring headphone, rather flat signature, but useable from production, post production, studio ,to casual listening. Modularity is pretty cool. Weight and fit was great. Sound was full and robust, but still has a muffled quality; less so than the Technics though. Required treble boost for marginal clarity.I ended up buying the Audio Technica M50xAfter going through several headphones from Sony, Shure, AiAiAi, Audio Technica, and Technics my perfect cans would look like this:Technics RP-DH1250-s drivers (but brighten them up-way too dark out of the box)AiAiAi style and modularity (but they don't fold or swivel - something I'd want)Audio Technica for the balanced presence.

Great design, poor sound quality
I really wanted to love these headphones. I was drawn to the design and the modular feature really appealed to me, so I was excited to try them out as soon as they arrived. Unfortunately on first listen I could tell that I wouldn't be keeping these because of the sound characteristics. These have a very inaccurate sound, which might be good for DJs but not for critical listening. The bass frequencies are too loud which colors the entire listening experience, and the bass that you do hear does not sound accurate, and is a touch "flappy". I was looking to replace my 20 year old Sony V900 headphones with these but after doing an A/B comparison, the TMA-2 isn't even close in accurate reproduction.I will say that the headphones are very comfortable, easy to assemble and seem to be well built. Unfortunately the scooped out mids and highs and soundstage are a deal breaker for me.

These are great performance headphones!
I use these things frequently as I DJ sometimes four times a week.I'm quite happy at how light these are. They feel great for extended sets. I'm often playing 5 hours or so and these have been comfortable the entire time. The sound quality is great! The lows are a little heavy but that's good if you're going to distinguish bass against large sound systems. They do a decent job of keeping external sound from bleeding in without having to drown it out using volume.I really like the modular build of everything and the fact that Aiaiai offers upgrade/replacement parts as well. The clean design without major branding is amazing, too!

Decent all around headphones with high comfort and good bass, but weak mids/highs.
The foam ear cups are very comfortable and isolate some sound (though not a huge amount). The foam on the head band is also comfortable for extended use. I use these at least 4hrs daily. The unit is easy to assemble and the cord is long enough for most uses. You will need an extension to walk around the room however. The 90 end on the 3.5mm plug prevents the cord from being snatched out violently. The audio quality is a very mixed bag however. The low freq bass is nice but the mids and highs are muffled. Took some tweaking to get voices to a decent level and at high volume the highs are always drowned out.

Amazing Headphones
My TMA-2 are the best headphones I have. The sound is amazing and my setup for listening to my pieces of vinyl and CDs is just incredible. Also for my modest studio for hobby and creating new music is speechless.

It's worth to buy!
Since opening the box, can clearly see that these headphones are Pro! Every single piece was packed separately from each other, so basically, you have to build your headphones by yourself. The sound is very deep and clear, not bad noise isolation. I love these headphones! Also because if some of the parts get damaged with time, its very easy to change it!

Beautifully balanced, with warm punchy bass and clarity to boot. Amazing
After owning a set of AKG K451's for a year (which I absolutely love) I decided I wanted a set of over ear cans to get some better noise isolation and bass response. I originally plumped for the AKG K550's based on rave reviews and my experience with my 451's - great clarity but overall I was really disappointed with them due to lack of bass and they just didn't go loud enough unless they were being powered off an amp. I went out and tried as many different brands as possible, but nothing was ticking my boxes except for a set of TMA- 1's owned by a friend, so I went for the TMA-2's and I'm really happy with them. I got them an hour ago and have found them really hard to put down, going through all genres of music to test them in all areas. Their balance of punchy, yet warm bass and beautifully clear and wide soundstage is fantastic. I know that my taste may not be to others, as how one man wants his music to sound may not be the case for another, but in my humble view these are amazing!!update: nearly 4 years on and these headphones are still used and abused daily by myself and my 9 year old son and they are still going strong and I still love them. I'd like to add that this isn't a paid ad review either - just a happy consumer who just wants to share the love.

Studio preset has terrible sound
I love neural sound. If the producer intended for heavy bass in a track then I would hope that my sound equipment would replicate that as close as possible. The TMA 2 studio preset is very far off effective sound reproduction. The bass is horribly muddy and loose. Everything sounded terrible. All types of music were way off. I wanted to love these headphones. The physical design is fantastic but the sound is shocking. Maybe I got a faulty pair, but both ears sounded the same.I sent them back.

Excellent reasonably priced headphones
This is the 2nd pair of TMA-2's I have purchased- need a pair for my wife!Easy to assemble and the optional hard case is also worth having. They are great. The sound is smooth with none of the typically exaggerated low end or fizzy highs.I can happily work on these at night when I can't use my main monitors. Delighted!

Best sub £400 headphones around
Went for the studio preset and I wasn't disappointed at all. Out of the box these things sound great and once they've been broken in a bit there is nothing at this price mark that comes close. I've tried a few of the different presets now and this is definitely the stand out one for me.

These are bumped in the low end
they sound fantastic .. they go loud so even with a large bump to the lows the clarity is fantastic no distortion at all at loud volumes
