Very impressed - good bang for buck!
These are some very impressive subs for the price. As I'm sure most of you know, BOSS overrates their RMS ratings on almost everything. I can't say if these are over-rated (they probably are, I honestly don't think they could handle 400w RMS each,) but I CAN tell you that I'm feeding them about 150-200watts RMS each (I have 2) and I'm getting strong, clean sound out of them. They're in a vented truck box and sound great! Especially for the price - quite impressed!! I've only had them about 3 weeks but so far so good! They hit like a quality low to medium power subwoofer. If you fry these by feeding them too much power, don't blame the sub, blame yourself!I was originally powering these with a BOSS AR1500M amp. The amp was just too underpowered - I'd guess it was putting out in the neighborhood of 150-175watts RMS. I stepped up to a BOSS AR2500M (which I'm guessing is putting out somewhere in the neighborhood of 300-400 watts RMS @ 2ohms) and they sound a LOT better. I highly recommend that amp btw - good quality amp, just understand that BOSS ratings are off. If you compare it to a competitors amp in the SAME PRICE RANGE, I can guarantee you the BOSS will out-perform. Do NOT use BOSS's published specs for purposes of comparison. You won't be happy. Take that information to heart about BOSS in general. In my experience with their speakers and amps, the quality itself has been fine, it's the specs that are completely wacko. Tuning of the system must therefore be done with careful caution. At the end of the day, these are an easy 5 star recommendation. If they for some reason go out in the next year, I'll update this review - too early to speak on behalf of lifespan/durability.

Most affordable flat sub for the money!
First off,This was a purchase for my girlfriend's car. I went with boss simply because of the best value on a budget. I personally would have gone with Pioneer because I have purchased from them for years. Just wanted to clear the air for those who may think this is an attack or something on Boss or Pioneer.I purchased this along with Boss Head unit and Riot amplifier. The subwoofer I noticed seems well constructed for the price. (owned better, owned worse; none of which cost only $30 bucks for this size and type)I did not build my own box for this, however I did look at the specs and matched with an appropriate sealed box. Both of which im still impressed with for the price. Played it first on a low wattage t-amp for less than $30 bucks. With this baby amp maxed out...probably sending 30W max to the sub. It was really bumping. Exactly what I needed. So I moved on to playing it on a heavier application: 200W home amp, again at most pushing maybe 90W to it. Sounded slightly better. Now, yesterday installed in a honda civic for my girlfriend, hooked up to boss riot 1100R mono amp. Her and I could not be happier with the sound. Hits hard enough the the entire trunk rattles barely. Perfect, can't find any faults. However, when being compared to the more expensive,(2x the price!) Pioneer TSSW series flat 10inch subwoofer, it gets beaten in tightness of bass, clarity of signal, and construction. It also has a lower RMS rating too, so less power is required to get the desired sound. Make no mistake though, Pioneer is clearly better, but for the price. I didn't expect it to come so close. Boss has come a long way....Probably better than Jensen, SSL, Pyle and Pyramid in this price range, which is what really matters. Not a reason to give it lower than 5 stars. Exceeded my expectations anyway.

Unit arrived faulty, seller doesn't allow returns at all. Read on before you buy...
So I NEVER leave 1 star reviews and I'm a very gracious customer in my own opinion. I happily allow sellers to replace failed items and I'm very easy to work with. I'm smart and very experienced in car audio and electronics in general. Here is my experience thus far with ordering this subwoofer.Unpackaged it and was pleased by how robust it was with a very nice quality look and feel, I'm no noobie to car audio so I proceeded to install the the unit strait way. (so you don't rule this out as user error I've probably installed at least 30 complete car audio systems in my life) I installed the speaker into a sealed enclosure with ample cubic feet of internal space for this shallow mount. I wired it as a solo at 4 Ohms directly to a BOSS 1100W Monoblock Amp that was new but had already been tested on a separate subwoofer to ensure that it functioned properly. Once unit was mounted in the box with clean, solid connections on terminals (I tested the terminals) I then powered the system up at approx 20% power and volume with BASS boost off to test and begin break in phase. This sub produced an awful "BRRRRT" sound each time it should have been hitting. This to me sounded like a crossed +/- so I re-checked all wiring for errors, nothing. I went so far as to swap the sub out in the same box with a different one I already had and it worked great, I simply had gotten a genuine, bonefide DOA subwoofer. I was like, "no prob, I'll just return it". Well the seller has this woofer listed as hazardous material with Amazon so returns aren't accepted. Tomorrow I'll go strait to BOSS to attempt a return from the mfg. This review's point is two fold, one to warn you of buying this woofer from Amazon (not saying these are all bad, but I am saying that if yours is like mine the return won't be standard Amazon easy), and secondly in the hopes the seller will read it and hopefully resolve my issue so I can give them back an appropriate number of stars.
