Good knife.
Very nice knife. Can take a wicked edge. The steel holds an edge equivalent to 1095 or a little better. Does not take much effort to bring the edge back popping sharp.

An absolute beauty!
Update: I really love this knife! The handle has grown on me and it remains one of the most beautiful in my collection. Photos really don’t even look a third as good as this wood looks in person, it’s the weirdest thing. The steel holds an edge remarkably well and yet is easily touched up on a ceramic rod or the top of my vehicle rear passenger window. No chips or rolls so far, but I’m more gentle on it than if it had micarta handles. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is I wish this particular model with the wood handle had a little thinner blade stock for better slicing. I feel it would be pretty near the perfect all-around knife in this size. Don’t get me wrong, I like the way it is in the micarta model. But I wish they would make the Bocote version thinner. Maybe call it the Canadiense Lite? This initial review is similar to my review of the micarta model. Yet again Joker does an excellent job. A shaving sharp edge, symmetrical grinds, along with a marvelously finished handle that has absolutely gorgeous grain and coloration, with a well executed sheath and matching ferro rod make for a really nice package. Joker is definitely swinging above what the current price point would indicate once again! The handle is a good design, although not my favorite upon initial handling, but this is very subjective; this could change over time. There are no hotspots or other obvious issues and I really love my Grohmann Canadian. It very much fills the hand. I guess the way the handle narrows towards the blade, combined with the overall thickness of it, feels strange. Others seem to consider this model their favorite. We’ll have to see after some more extensive use. Some might consider this handle a little short, especially if one’s hands are very large. It was long enough for my medium to large hands. As I said before, it is really pretty wood.Another difference with this model is the way it fits more tightly in the sheath - almost too tight, but it should loosen up with use. New , out of the box, both this one and my Micarta handled example have me needing to use the leather thong lanyard to pull it free.It balances just below the first rivet. It is, therefore, a little handle-heavy which, along with a wide blade belly and a flat grind, gives it a good feel as a skinner.Give this one a shot. In terms of fit and finish, based on my experience with almost ten Jokers, more Bark Rivers and Blackjacks and a litany of Ontarios, Kabars and others, it is unlikely you will be disappointed. Just the Bocote handle makes this knife exceptional.
