I love the Hidden Side.
This was a gift for my 6 yo. He needed only moderate help in building and there's nothing about the build that is exceptionally hard to build for someone his age. I do recommend any parent supervise younger children with Lego building because they tend to instinctively think that taking something apart requires their teeth. The Hidden Side Wrecked Shrimp Boat is a cute design but really shines when you use the app. So let me first say it was a fun 2 part build that my son played with a bunch before we used the app. Then when you open the app it's not only interactive with the set but adds to the set by creating these ghosts and bubbles to shoot at after you turn a color dial to solve a simple puzzle. In addition once you've played it it opens other games and there are actually a lot of sets in this line. We picked up the graveyard for him which he just finished and look forward to playing that (he just finished building it) and I would invest in the other larger sets now that I've had some fun playing it myself.I gave 5 stars in easy to assemble because I think Lego does a great job with their instructions. there was nothing in this set that was hard to build either but I guess it depends on how many Legos you build.Side note - My 13yo Lego fanatic loved the app as well. I think somewhere between the 7 year and up age recommendation older builders might think it's little kid centric but it's just not. My 6 year old doesn't have a phone. And it requires an app downloaded. And the app isn't like leap frog. It's a little harder. Maybe the age should be revised or there should be some adult assistance required if you're designing a Lego to use with a phone. But if you enjoy Lego with your kids instead of just handing it off to them this is a good one to get because it will require your assistance to get the most out of it.

Great set with cool app
The Lego Hidden Side Wrecked Shrimp Boat adds a really neat extra feature to already awesome set. I helped my 7 year old son assemble some parts (mostly getting the stickers on correctly), but he built the majority of this set by himself. After building we used the Hidden Side Lego app for some neat AR gaming. Lego has done a really good job adding extra value with this app, the mini games are really well done and are actually fun. The are also adding more features soon (like multiplayer with multiple devices) so you get even more milage out of these sets even after you've built it. We used an iPhone 6S and an iPhone 7 to play and the app worked fine on both devices.Even without the added benefit of the free app and games to play with this was a fun set to build and its very detailed despite it being lower priced (on the LEGO scale, anyway). We have a few other of the Hidden Side sets and they've all been great, I hope LEGO continues to create new content for these sets as well.

Scary hidden side
This is the third unit we got of the Hidden side and my family loves it.My 5-year old loves the whole "scary" and interactive part, and couldn't wait to put it together. My wife and I play with our phones while my daughter plays with us. The interactive part works really great and is definitely bringing Lego to the next level. It is fun to capture the ghosts, finish tasks etc. I hope Lego will not drop the line and keep investing in it.The build was easy (my daughter put it all together). Maturity 7+ is more about reading with the interactive part and the theme then it is about the set complexity.I am thinking of getting the school bus next!!

Awesome set!
The set is awesome! Even more awesome you can play a game on your phone with it!Sad that they are discontinuing the app. Also the app takes a lot of memory to download but it is worth it and my kids love it, the app and the lego set!Hidden side is the best lego theme yet in my humble opinion 😊

A great addition to any collection
This is a really nice set. Since we live in an area where shrimp boats are a normal site this was a great addition to the collection of legos we, our kids and now grandkids own. Clear instructions are included , baggies of blocks are marked, the colors on the blocks are all great and non were miss-shapen to cause issued when building. Great price for a great quality set.

LEGOS! YAY!
Okay confession time....I bought these legos for myself....I'm, cough, 60yrs old.Yep, I love playing with legos. First as a kid, then with my kids, now with the grandkids and then I decided to buy some for myself. The sets are fun, but I like the classic legos the best. It's a lot of fun creating your own designs. Then taking them apart and making something new.

Great fun!
My kids love legos, so anything we can do to enhance that experience is great! We don't let our kids have free reign on our phones or tablets, but they love to use them with the legos when they get the chance. We got this as a Christmas gift for the kids, so they haven't opened it yet. I will update the review once it is built and kids can really have a chance to play with it.
