Best of both worlds
I bought these phones a whlie ago. I still like a land line. I have the option of a cordless phone. I like it announces the caller. I like when we lose power I can make a call. Easy set up. Good battery life!

Like the phone overall.
The menu system and manual are pretty clear on set up. I purchased this more as a backup phone and for when I'm traveling to call the house. Reason for one less star are the following reasons. Seventeen min max message storage? Seriously when memory is essentially free these days for gigabytes of memory. To me that is ridiculous. I also don't see why Panasonic would use Two small AAA batteries in the base unit? Not like you carry it around, and the low power batteries typical of AAA nickel metal suck. Why not Size 4 AA? There would be no point in the "energy saver mode", ideally in emergency power outage young kids and or seniors may not remember the phone book stored in the base unit in the absurd Eco mode. I installed Two black eneloop batteries to maximize the tiny backup system. Still horrid compared to 4 AAs. I would actually prefer a non charging system on the base unit. Something like Four AA energizer lithiums would be outstanding on back up, and not need maintenance for years. Haven't used the Mobile units. They are charging. Even though I charged the batteries that came with the portable handsets with a very good Panasonic charger and were showing full. Installed in handset and said needs 7 hours. My thoughts are the phone charge systems are subpar. At least Panasonic used a common size battery, I give them credit for that and not some PITA proprietary system that is hard to replace or find. I think many of us pre cell phone days people have experience with that situation. One other thing I would like to have adjust is the LCD display for sleep time settings. Like all the smart phones we use can be adjusted for brightness and how many min on before dimming. I only listed the bad for most part because the good is too long to write about. I would buy this system again and would rate 4.5 if half stars were available. Hey Panasonic since you bought out Sanyo eneloop batteries include those with your products instead of the cheap chi com brands.

Close fit to wall -save yourself some time and read on-short cord - straight forward set up and...
We had an old set of 3 top of the line (in their day) Panasonic wireless phones. But after our having them around 10 years (plus they weren't new whe we got them), the buttons on some of them were getting a bit cantankerous. Playing the #1 hard on this one, hit the 2 on this handset and eventually having to go back to the base to end a call on them got old. So I started researching. The biggest thing I was looking for was one that didn't stick out far from the wall.THIS is the ONLY one on the internet I could find after hours of research that fit fairly snuggly to the wall. The base at its deepest it protrudes just a hair over 4". With the wall mount our old one stuck out close to 6". So it is narrow, tight fitting, close to the wall. Again the narrowest I could find. The width is about 9" and the height is just over 7.5". (Again the handset - which I suppose you could disconnect and remove if you had to for some reason.)The features are easier to figure out than our previous set. (although some of the setup for one we don't plan on using have #codes that probably only the geekiest would remember).I like that the mounting plate just switches around for wall mount or desk. It also is hallow so it can hold the extra length of the phone and power cord. Love that you don't have to play the wind the cord around and /or tuck in here - oh bother now it won't reach the outlet game. The wireless handsets come with batteries, the backup power on the base does not come with batteries. It functions without them. It takes 2 AAA Ni-MH batteries. I researched and ordered the iMac brand, they are orange and black. A person would probably not need them if you have a battery backup box from the phone company.Other things to note:Color is only champagne (light brownish goldish color) on the front of the wireless handsets, the back of the wired handset and the front of the base - the rest is more of a white. The key pad and the display in the middle of the base are a darker tone. The cord is super short and has the narrower jacks.Ringer can be set to what I feel is super loud.I did not think I would miss the caller ounce from our old phones. But I did, I scoured the instruction/set up booklet. No luck. However as I was configuring the base...lo and behold it does have caller ounce that you can turn on or off.Bonus with the corded base - you Always know where at least 1 phone is.Note: I have only had a week and so far loving these phones. The only thing I am having trouble adjusting to one thing...I forget I can just push the off button and instead I head over to the base.I hope this is helpful - I know I would have appreciated it when I was searching.

Highly recommend, great quality, amazing sound!
This phone set is amazing! First of all, the package shipped quickly and was in good condition when it arrived. It was actually shipped with a set of shampoo/conditioner that leaked during shipping and some of the product got on the box. It did not damage it in any way, so even the packaging on this item is quality. There was nothing missing out of the box and none of the merchandise was damaged in any way. It was very simple to set up and start charging. The sound quality on this system is perfect! No static or background noise whatsoever. I live on a remote island so having a set like this is a must. As much as I love having cordless phones, we have frequent power outages and have to have a plugged in landline at all times. I've gone through so many sets like this it's not even funny, but this is, by far, the best quality phone that we have owned. It takes a little getting used to when it starts to announce the caller, but I've found that I really appreciate this feature since I hate getting up when I'm in the middle of changing a diaper or something just to find out its a sales or political survey call or something. I have not had any issues working with the settings yet, but I have not even touched the surface of what's its capable of. If I run into any issues, I'll update this review. One feature that I haven't had a chance to set up yet that I'm really excited to use is the baby monitor. We're rearranging our house so I haven't gotten to test it yet, but that is one of the main reasons that this phone was the one that eventually chose. I have no doubt that it will be an amazing function, but again, if I have any issues with it, I'll update my review. So, in summary, I highly recommend this telephone system.
