Great value
Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) really does work. This workbook is exactly what the title implies; a guided program of mindfulness meditation to help in the reduction of stress. The book and the accompanying CD are a great way to learn how to look at, and live your life in a very different way; by being present. By 'being' not just doing. The authors, Bob Stahl and Elisha Goldstein are well qualified and have written detailed but easy to follow explanations and instructions. They will guide you every step of the way. If you follow the program you will gradually notice improvements in many areas of your life. You couldn't make a better purchase!

Odd but helpful (based on why I got it)
Honestly my therapist told me to get it. He had me read the first chapter and that was it. And 99% of that first chapter was things in unconsciously do anyway. Read the rest and it did help me some. First chapter a bit odd though I think.

Great Tool to Learn and Document your Mindfulness Journey!
This book is well written, well laid out, and easy to read. It has space to take notes. I am working on both stress reduction and increased mindfulness, so it was just what I needed! This is an updated second edition.

Useful and comprehensive workbook on mindfulness practices
Presented with practical steps and illustrations, this workbook provides a comprehensive collection of wonderful mind-body exercises, mindfulness information and background on stress reduction. Bob and Elisha cover in this book, a wholistic set of topics in a straight forward and practical style. Each chapter gives you just enough information to understand the subject and useful exercises that can be applied directly to your practice. I found each section enjoyable to read and found myself revisiting the ideas and exercises, as a good workbook will do. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to start or broaden their mindful practice and, for students of any program that focuses on mindfulness, stress or improving one's life-style.

Great starter tool for those looking to meditiation and mindfullness for chronic pain and suffering
Great starter tool for those looking to meditiation and mindfullness for chronic pain and suffering. I have been meditating for four years now and this book was part of the beginning. It also helped me review my habits, outcomes, stresses, and strategies for living with chronic pain and suffering. It also moved me into an acceptance faze instead of the fight, ignore, deny, push through faze I had been in for ten years which resulted in a lot more suffering, money and time wasted, and worse outcomes in health and life. It's well written and the exercises are brilliant.

Decent explanations & exercises
Since mindfulness is not inherently religious, I'm surprised they paired it with yoga, which is. But I'm guessing the same concept applies to other forms of exercise, so I'm just going to improvise there.

Sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für MBSR, gut gegliedert das Buch, mit vielen praktischen Hilfen, um MBSR in seinen Alltag einzuführen. Man wird auch angeregt, seine derzeitigen Stressfaktoren aufzuschreiben, sowie sich auch Notizen nach den einzelnen Meditationsübungen zu machen, wie ruhig man geworden ist oder eben auch noch gar nicht. Mit der Zeit solte es einem dann auch leichter fallen, diese Übungen zu machen, und (für mich) damit mehr wieder im "Hier und Jetzt" anzukommen. Vorgesehen ist eine Durcharbeitung des Buches über mehrere Wochen, mit dem Ziel, MBSR (Mindfulness-based stress reduction, kurz mit Achtsamkeit übersetzt) generell längerfristig in sein Leben einzuführen. Nach längerer krankheitsbedingter Auszeit befasse ich mich nun (auf Englisch) mit dem Thema, und es ist sehr praktisch, sowohl die Anleitungen wie auch gleich eine CD dabei zu haben, um durch Meditationsübungen geführt zu werden, und zwar fast in allen Fällen von unterschiedlicher Länge, also z.B. 15 Minuten, 30 Minuten oder auch 45 Minuten. Einziges Manko bei den CD Meditationen, das mir bis jetzt aufgefallen ist (bin ja noch am Anfang), ist, dass ich mir zusätzlich zu den Meditationssequenzen ganz leise Musik einstellen muss, weil ich teilweise - aufgrund der langen Sprechpausen - durch das Wiedereinsetzen der Stimme erschreckt werde. Aber das ist nur eine persönliche Einstellung, vielleicht genießen es andere, gar nichts zu hören, bis auf hin und wieder die Anweisungen auf der CD, mit leichtem, aber nicht übermäßig starkem amerikanischen Akzent. Aufgrund dieser persönlichen Haltung gibt es nur 4 Sterne, ansonsten wären es 5!

La couverture est en papier plastique polluant, c'est super desagrable et à l'image du livre commercial, sans âme, fait pour être vendu sans respect ni considération pour l'acheteur. L'organisation du livre est à la "vas-y-comme ça pousse", Le cd on n'y croit pas trop, en particulier à cause de celui qui parle a été recruté par casting de voix, il existe beaucoup mieux, mais pas encore en anglais, c'est-à-dire en français et en espagnol.
