Jerry Johnson drives his roadster off a high cliff to his death. Climbing down the treacherous ravine, Roy Rogers retrieves the body and finds the sheriff waiting. When he proves that Johnson had been shot, he is arrested for murder. Roy manages to escape, and with the law hot on his trail, he must find the real killer, or pay for a crime he has not committed.Roy is joined by an outstanding supporting cast led by John Carradine, whose long career included roles in many Hollywood classics such as Stagecoach (1939), The Grapes of Wrath (1940), The Ten Commandments (1956) and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962). Also in support are journeyman character actors Dick Wessel (Dick Tracy Vs. Cueball, 1946) and Jerome Cowan, who is best remembered for his roles in The Maltese Falcon (1941) and Miracle on 34th Street (1947).

“I’ll have a picnic breaking his neck!”
Trying to break his own record, Roy is framed twice in this movie. Of course, Roy was always easy to frame―wrong place, wrong time, the perfect patsy. It doesn’t help that he’s up against a mastermind criminal (John Carradine as Lucky Miller), who wants anything/everything that isn’t his and he’s not afraid to kill to get it. The plan is to get a rich dope married so Lucky Miller can make a deal with his widow, and then kill her. But Roy keeps getting in his way…the best-laid plans of rats and stinkers often go awry when Rogers is around. This is another very basic, by-the-numbers Roy Rogers movie, typical, with absolutely no surprises, but plenty of music.

The spurs are really jingling!
This movie is a very exciting adventure. Roy is the foremen at a ranch. Jerry Johnson, the owner of the ranch, is rowdy and is under the influence of Lucky Miller. Miller wants to have the ranch, but the will left by Jerry's father states that Jerry himself cant sell it. Miller solves this problem by suggesting that Jerry marry a "mail order bride". He will then murder Jerry and get the widow to sell him the ranch. This is where all of the romance begins. I will leave you hanging at that point. The movie is full of action and lots of climatic stunts done by Trigger. It also has some humor in it provided by Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette). Enjoy and have fun!

Roy Rogers > Law Enforcement
Roy Rogers is falsely accused by a stubborn, bullheaded, and uninformed Sheriff. Not an unusual plot for Rogers. Results? Both predictable and typical. So this is a typical Roy Rogers movie in many respects. Which means it is better than virtually anything that has been put out by Hollywood since about 1995 or so. Five stars.

Roy was & stayed a good guy!
I love Roy Rogers and was delighted to find this on my Prime account. These old westerns, while predictable, are very entertaining. Movie is just the right length for my treadmill workout, 56 minutes. Also like the lack of profanity and crudity so popular in 'modern' movies.
