Ideally, the user should have a bit of DIY experience already. That way one has a good “feel” for how well a screw bites and holds in the wood.In my photo, the bottom bracket, I did not use the screws that came with the kit. Instead I went through my screw collection pile and picked 3 longer & slightly wider diameter screws. Reason: this bracket gets pushed sideways, so those screws better hold tight. The wood cabinet also has enough thickness to accommodate my screw length so that worked out for me.As for the top bracket, you will notice in the photo I had to re-mount it slightly away from first attempt location. Reason I needed to move it: first location caused a collision during the closing movement: the piston strut would have reached dead-bottom, but is still too long to finish the closing stroke/movement of the door.This is where, there is NO WAY for instruction to “be clear”; because that depends on how the user mounted the bottom bracket in the first place. If the vendor doesn’t know how YOU mount the bottom, the vendor cannot give you clear/exact dimensions to mount the top.With either a bit of DIY experience, and/or some experiment, you’ll find the proper installation position.

When we bought our kitchen, it came with Stabilus gas struts. Out of 20, 20 failed within the first month or two and some never even worked at all. They were junk, oil everywhere, just nuts.After a lot of back n forth re warranty (Kraftmaid denied warranty cuz they don't make the cylinders and Stabilus blamed Kraftmaid for wrong installation) we got them replaced, and same thing. So, rather than fighting another round for $40-per-piece junky cylinders, I figured I'd give these Chinese $15-for-two knock-offs a try.These cylinders are slightly longer than the originals (1/4" / 6mm when extended?) so they keep tension on the fully-open door which is probably not great, I could fix that by moving the mounting bracket, but it's fine.Biggest thing is that these units actually work. They're clean/no oil leaks, they do what gas struts are supposed to do, they do that out of the box with no hassles, they clip in just fine on the original mounting points, simply an amazing fit. And, they've already out-lasted the originals.Can't beat that...

The media could not be loaded. Worked smoothly after some trial-and-error installation. Gas strut installation does allow for a fair amount of adjustment to deviate from the provided illustrated installation dimensions. In this case, I only installed one hinge and it operated quite well. Installation and hardware quality definitely provides a very good value.

The installation instructions were not very helpful, nor the video. But what was worse, after a few actuations, the angled mounting hardware bent and the post riveting got loose. This part was obviously not strong enough to handle the fo0rce of the plunger. I am so glad I did NOT use this on my actual project, but did a mock up first, it gave me time to throw this away and buy a better set. Do NOT waste your money.

Easy to install and works great. Good price.

I ordered the gas struts for a toy box I built. I previously used the other style with the coil spring on another toy box. This style works better since it lifts the lid as well as a slow close. The only problem is that there were no instructions included in the shipment. Installation took a little longer and I had to patch holes because the first attempt was off by about an inch. I will buy this product again.

I needed to replace a set of hardware that was very expensive, these worked so well, easily installed, without question I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a set of hardware to lift a cabinet door. 5 stars
