Excellent agar agar product
I have used agar agar before, for culturing edible mushrooms. Some brands worked, some did not. This is easy to dispense, measure, and I have had excellent results with the yogurt cultures that I have been experimenting with coconut milk. I use this to culture the starter before I add it to the yogurt maker, it really extends the viability of starters. It is easy to identify contamination before you add it to a batch and ruin it! I have not had any contaminants with this product yet, the yogurt cultures colonize the media quickly.As a thickener, this does a great job. I tried it last night to thicken a stew and the difference in flavor was not noticeable but it did as good a job as my usual method with cornstarch.As a gelatin, I tried this a couple days ago with coconut milk and chia seed for a tapioca-like pudding, erythritol for sweetener, and I was surprised that for all of the exotic and crazy ingredients I was using, I knew it was going to be added to my list of favorite desserts.Stop looking at your local Asian market for agar that you need to pulverize before you use it, especially if that’s the only reason you have to go to an Asian market (like I did). This is entirely too easy.

I use agar so I can cook pasta right in the sauce and some water in my microwave (they say I'm lazy, but it takes all my time) without having it boil over and make a mess.

Okay, Agar-Agar is the thickener of choice in a lot of homemade quickie cheese recipes and after a bit of research I settled on the powder form as it ispurportedly far more potent than in other forms such as the flakes or stick/cube...Well, after a few tries, I must say I. Love. It!It really is awesome and does exactly what it is supposed to do and can be used in everything from homemade quick-cheese recipes for sandwiches or pizza or even vegan-jello!Studies have shown that it aids in minor weight-loss and improved regularity of bowel functions. And it is also safer than carrageenan The only iffy-thing is it takes a few minutes to melt in the oven, so during the topping portion of baking homemade pizza or pizza bread, bake for a few minutes less than usual to accommodate that the cheese will not melt as easily as regular cheese, so it may take a try or two to get your preferred bake method organized, - but it does melt and it melts in a few seconds when microwaved on toasted bread...-.Special notes; a little goes a long way, and used on it's own with nothing else, it makes a sliceable cheese and a firm vegan-jello product. But, be sure to practice with smaller ratios before making a full serving size when working on your vegan jello recipes and artisan cheese blends, etc... as using less powder will make it last a lot longer...Overall a really solid product and definitely worth the investment in any kitchen pantry supply!Our grade: B++ /-4.25 Stars!

Ok first I want to say that I'm new at needing to a product like this .. as in 9 months.. so far this product is fine.. but I lack experience. Please don't let cause to turn your head.. This product does exactly what it's supposed to do ..I just can't do 5 stars at my level of experience.. So please don't have that detour you .. do it and share.. The product so far works just fine.. I'll buy it again..
