Visconti Sforza Tarot Cards

I'm beyond grateful for the production of this product. as a collector with low budget, this one makes the Grail of my tarocchini. very beautiful printings, exquisite fidelity, collector quality, exhibition size, lovely packaging.

What a beautiful and mysterious deck this is! I'll start right off by acknowledging that this is not for everyone--It's incredibly large (double the size of your regular deck) and does not lend itself to being shuffled easily. This is strictly for the advanced users, and even then will most likely only used on special occasions. For Medieval Faire mystics, this it the deck to use for that 15th century authenticity. The cards are stunning! They look aged and have a lot of flecked paint look, but really capture the danger and lost time of the Renaissance. It has replacement cards for the 4 missing, and 6 others that were included that were done by a different artist. Many people have complained about the back of the cards being too plain and maroon in color, but that happens to be my favorite color and it doesn't look at all bad. I recommend this deck for everyone for art, and as a previous reviewer stated, every serious Tarot student should have this deck. For Beginners, I recommend these decks: Aquarian Tarot Deck Cards , Rider-Waite Tarot by Waite, A.E. . For another deck like this one: Cary-Yale Visconti Tarocchi Deck Definitely worth picking it up, just expect to admire the artwork more than use the cards.

Beauty and tradition are the words that come to mind when I look at this deck. I love the cards of antiquity and give them a favored spot in my collection. This particular deck is a faithful reproduction of the Visconti Sforza right down to the marks left on the cards by use over the years. It gives you a real sense and feel for the history behind the deck. Now, a word to those that would heed it. These cards are enormous and very akward to use. They are, however very easy to see. This is a good deck for people that know their tarot but since they are not named or numbered, it could be a bit of a crap shoot for the less experienced reader. Any serious collector should have this deck in their display.

Very pleased with these cards. They are large...7" x 3.5". I Corgi shuffle but if you riffle shuffle you will have a difficult time. Reproductions are nice but keep in mind that the original cards they are reproduced from have imperfections that are duplicated in these cards (paint imperfections, etc). Also, the cards are not marked or numbered so if you are just learning Tarot, these cards are not the best choice. Some of the cards are difficult to tell upright or reversed positions because of not having markings (wands, some coin, cup cards). Fortunately on the reverse side of every card there is a small pin hole mark at one end that designates the upright position. The reverse side of the cards have a mottled red and gold background.

So I have known the basics of tarot like which cards are which for quite some time now but I've never owned a deck of my own. I never felt attracted or drawn to the standard rider-waite tarot deck and as beautiful as some of the artistic decks are, I wanted something basic and easy to learn. I stumbled across these and after looking into a few other Visconti Sforza decks, this one felt the most right for me. I really love the Historical preservation of these cards because I really love History as well so these were a perfect fit for me. The artwork is really beautiful and the cards are a good size. I really enjoyed the historic information in the booklet as well as the history behind the creation of the cards. These took a little time to learn some of the cards as a few look simular like the knight/page/king cards but other from that they are fairly easy to learn. I really connect to these cards on a spirtual level as well which is a good thing. I recommend these for any Tarot collector, History geek or anyone drawn to the artwork.

These are large but probably resemble the originals closer than other affordable version. They are on nice card stock, which I appreciate. Comparing cards from this deck to identical cards on the "Golden Tarot Visconti Sforza" deck by Mary Packard; Packard's cards have visually brighter colors. Perhaps they used some color filters and touched up the missing paint, thereby better bringing out details. Packard's are therefore more pleasing to the eye. Some of the figures on the Pierpont Morgan deck seem to get lost in the drab brown background color but such is realism. The borders on Pierpont however are soft and do not box in the image. I like that. While Packard's cards are smaller, the card stock isn't as good so I can't see them as being durable. I haven't figured out how to shuffle these large Pierpont cards but I'm thinking about it. One could use them and they would be durable. It appears as though smaller decks like Kat Black's and the Medieval Scapini are hand sized but the original images have been more altered. I think the value in these Pierpont Morgan cards is in the preservation of the exact image originally created. I am finding totally different explanations for some of the cards. The Hermit, for example, carries a sundial not a lantern and is identified with time. If you wish to read the cards as they were meant to be, this would serve that purpose. So far as realism and quality I believe this deck is a good buy.

I am so glad that I purchased these tarot cards. Looking through them they have done a great job at recreating the original cards. I feel like I will use them for special occasions because they are just that beautiful. I will say that they are very big cards so they may be hard to shuffle for some. I have no regrets in getting these cards and they make a great addition to the other decks I have.

The cards are beautiful. I collect Tarot more for their artistic beauty than for the actual cartomancy. This has got to be one of the most beautiful decks I have ever seen. Card stock is good .The size of the cards are rather large and awkward to shuffle, but fantastic size for viewing..I recommend for their artistry and history.

Dieses Visconti-Sforza Tarot ist sehr, sehr schön und hat, da Faksimileausgabe, eine ganz besondere Ausstrahlung. Wer sich mit der Renaissance beschäftigt, bekommt hier einen Eindruck über ganz einzigartige Tarotkarten, den ältesten überhaupt. Die Karten sind in dem Büchlein (in englischer Sprache) ist sehr gut interpretiert. Ein wertvolles Deck.

Una joya del arte renacentista del siglo XV, vienen en su tamaño original. Me gusta lo desgastado y sin restaurar de las imágenes, le da el toque antiguo y misterioso. El tamaño es más pequeño que el de la Cary Yale y el grosor también es menor, pero eso facilita el barajado mucho más. Lo único que no me gustó fue que algunas imágenes no venían en buena calidad, como la carta de la Justicia o la de la Torre (siendo esta una de las recreadas), pero de ahí en fuera me ha gustado mucho.
