Button Fly!
TBH I ordered these for an 80's costume, which they were perfect for, but these are awesome jeans. I had no clue they were button Fly which is both totally rad, and a little weird. True Levis quality, fit , color and stonewashed style. Rock on!

The Gold Rush of Denim
There’s a strange poetry to the way certain objects become embedded in the culture. Like a key that opens something far bigger than you expected. And if there’s one item of clothing that’s done that more than almost anything else, it’s Levi’s 501 jeans. You know them. Everyone knows them. The number itself—501—is practically a legend. A claim to something more than just denim. It’s the kind of number you’d see on an old gold-mining claim. The thing that started it all. The foundation.Levi Strauss wasn’t out there looking for gold, but in some ways, that’s exactly what he found. Because these jeans are something you don’t just wear. They’re something you inherit. They’ve lived a thousand lives before they even touch your legs. And when you put them on, you feel the weight of it. It’s like stepping into a legacy of men who built America with their hands, their sweat, their grit. And that—that—is not lost on you.The 501s have been around since the days of the Gold Rush, worn by miners and cowboys, soldiers and laborers, roughnecks and rebels. They’ve seen things. They’ve been places. They’ve survived hard labor, tough winters, long nights of uncertainty. Maybe you’ve never mined for gold or fought in a war, but when you button up those jeans, you can’t help but feel connected to those who did. There’s something elemental about them. The blue denim is like the color of a deep, unspoken sky, one that has seen everything and held its peace. But beyond the history, beyond the weight of their heritage, there’s the way they fit. The button-fly, which, let’s face it, makes you feel like you’re in a John Steinbeck novel—somewhere between The Grapes of Wrath and The Outsiders, like a kid on the cusp of something big but unsure of how it’s going to go. They’re a little bit rebellious, a little bit nostalgic, a little bit tough. You slide them on, and it’s like taking a step into that world—where the world’s a little harder, a little less forgiving, but you wear it with confidence.Sure, they’re not the most comfortable thing when you first get them, but that’s part of it. You wear them in. They get better, like an old leather jacket or a favorite pair of boots. Over time, they become a second skin. And like any good thing worth waiting for, they remind you that effort, endurance, and a little discomfort are what lead to something that feels real. The cut? It’s a classic. Straight-leg. Timeless. You could dress them up with a blazer or throw on a vintage tee, but they’ll always have that air of rebellion about them—like they’ve been through things you’ll never fully understand. They’re not fashionable—no, they transcend that. They’re iconic. They don’t need to follow trends because, honestly, they set them. It’s like having a piece of history in your closet, waiting to be worn, to be earned. If you ever felt like a character in The Outsiders—a little out of place, a little misunderstood—you’ll understand why these jeans feel like a rite of passage. Like the tough but heartfelt soul of America, handed down through the years, stitched into denim. They might not dig for gold anymore, but they’re still mining something priceless: authenticity.

Great pants, but more variety in fit from wash to wash than I'd expect
Ordered these because, like many others here, I've got bigger thighs and a butt that are the limiting factor on the cuts of jeans I can wear. I was specifically looking for jeans that can be appropriate for work and evenings. I was a little hesitant after seeing some reviews here talking about the different material ratios and fits of the different colors. I can confirm that this is accurate, but that's something that's pretty common when you're talking about jeans. I did, however, expect that after looking at the Levi's website, seeing which washes had the 98/2 cotton/elastane ratio that those washes would fit the same. That wasn't the case either though, and that's why I'm giving them 4 instead of 5 stars. The two colors I went with at first were the Midnight and the Timberwolf. Both arrived with tags that marked them as "stretch," which made me feel kind of weird. They both do, in fact, have a bit of give to them, but you don't have to worry about them looking or feeling like you're putting on yoga pants. They are roomy where they need to be while looking neat and thus can be used for work like I wanted. However, I'd say that the Midnight wash was slightly larger than I was expecting while the Timberwolf were somewhat smaller, or rather, they just fit more snugly than the Midnight ones. They're probably closer to what I expected the size to be, but it was odd that there was any difference for two pairs of pants supposedly in the same line (541) and made from the same material "98% Cotton, 2% Elastane."Regardless, they still both were cut the way I was looking for in terms of their general shape if not necessarily the specific fit on the waist. Color-wise, the Midnight pair look exactly as pictured, while the Timberwolf are darker than what's pictured above. The Levi's site has a more accurate color for them if you take a look there. I prefer the color I received to what I saw above, but just know they will be darker.I also wanted a darker blue pair, but did not read good things about The Rich or Rigid Dragon here. I was apprehensive, but decided to try The Rich to see for myself. I was pleasantly surprised. They're definitely a fit closer to the Timberwolf than the Midnight, which I guess is why some people said they're a bit more "rigid" but I've had those rough old Levi's in the past and these are certainly not anything close to that. They also look like they're going to bleed, so I'm going to need to do the whole cold water + vinegar wash on them before I wear them.Overall these are good pants for anyone with a build that's got more meat in the butt/thigh region and struggling to find comfortable and stylish jeans in the straight or slim(mer) style. Just be mindful that not all the washes are created equal in terms of the fit or feel and that there may be some color deviations from what you see above.
