Nice feel, nice shave!
I finally got tired of the expense of the $4+ Fusion cartridges and ordered this Feather DE razor. I wanted to experience DE shaving without dropping a ton of $ on the shaver since, I thought, I might not like the single blade shave. My shaver arrived on time as scheduled, as is usual with Amazon:-)I like the hard plastic case the Feather was shipped in. It will serve as a travel case. The razor's handle is plastic, but it has a nice feel, is textured, and provides good grip when my hands are wet (I shave in the shower). The build of the razor is very good, it in no way feels flimsy, and it secures the blade very securely. All-in-all, the razor is well-built, and the butterfly mechanism works smoothly. Much of the Feather is made of plastic, but it doesn't feel "plasticky".I wondered a bit about how that first shave would go since I had been shaving with disposable cartridges for almost forty years. I made sure to prep my face well, and I used King of Shaves Alphagel since I had used it most recently on my last couple of months of Fusion cartridge shaving. I found the Feather, with it's Feather blade (2 were shipped with the razor), to be easy to use, very effective at removing my heavy beard, and it gave me a great shave without even one nick or cut! I used that same blade for just over two weeks before it began to give me a tinge of irritation (after shaving I wipe the blade with an alcohol-soaked cotton ball to avoid having hard water minerals and shave gel corrode the steel). One month of Fusion cartridges would equal what I paid for this Feather razor and it's two included blades. I just now ordered 50 Feather blades (I'll say, very conservatively, A YEAR's supply of blades), for about what another 4 cartridges (A MONTH OR LESS of shaves) would have cost. The shaves I get with my Feather are as good or better as those with the Fusion. The head of the Feather is much easier to clean and much less likely to clog as were the Fusion's. I'm still regretting not making the switch years ago.The Feather Double Edge Shaving Razor (and it's Feather blades!) get my highest recommendation! Buy one - you, your face, AND your wallet will be happy you did!*********************************UPDATE 07JUNE2015 - How do I feel about my Feather razor after 14 months? Still feeling the love. The Feather razor itself has performed almost every day for 14 months without any sign of breakage or loosening. My shaving technique is better. I have found an inexpensive, high-tallow shaving soap, Arko, that I really like. I'm quite satisfied with the Feather blades that I have used since converting to wet shaving w/a safety razor. And the damage is less than two bucks per month, even when switching blades every Sunday morning. I wish I had converted years ago.And I give the Feather Double Edge Shaver a very high "Buy" recommendation!

A Great Double Edge Razor
This is my first foray into the world of double edge shaving. I wore a beard from the time started growing facial hair until I was 36 and by then started with multi-edged shaving devices and electric. I decided to take the plunge into the world of double edged shaving and the Feather Razor met the mark. It is light and well built. Though some parts are plastic I do not see that as a fault. It is very light and easy to maneuver. Make no mistake, you will draw blood on your first attempts, I sure did! But, as another reviewer stated you are either getting better at it or you are planing down the high spots. My wife says the shave is as close as Fusion gets me. It does take more time, or you will be sorry. The Fusion is much more forgiving but double edge shaving is more rewarding! As a beginner I can say that this would be a good starter and likely a keeper for the double edge shaver.UPDATE 4/20/14: I've been using the Feather Razor now for 5 months. My first shave was a bit of a nightmare! I was wearing a white Tee-shirt and after the first shave it was flecked with red from the nicks and scrapes of that first go at it. But I continued and have gotten better and I believe that you are really planing down the high spots on your face as well. I get a good shave blood free these days. The process has sped up, but is still slower than the Fusion. I enjoy it more than using the using the Fusion for some reason, maybe because of the perceived danger involved. One thing I did note is that I often do not shave every day and may go several days between shaves. I have a medium to heavy beard. The feather handles this type of shaving much better than any multi-edge shaver I have ever used. It doesn't get clogged up at all. As far as the durability of the Feather is has proven very durable showing no wear, tear or malfunction. I have only used Shark Super Chrome blades and they work great. Cleaning and oiling (I use baby oil) the blade after use gives an extra 1-2 shaves and they are noticeably smoother than not oiling.UPDATE 10/03/14: I have been using this razor now for about 9 or 10 months and have recently purchased it some company. I wanted to try out a screw together style and not wanting to spend much money on the trial I got a Baili for about $14. This gives me something to compare the Feather to.From this experience the Feather is a less aggressive design. It doesn't shave quite as close, but it feels safer. Using the Baili I have to be more careful due to the added aggression of the design. This makes the Feather a better choice for beginners and those with less aggressive beards. God knows what my first shave would have been like with the Baili! The Feather drew enough blood! As far as the speed of shaving I am almost up to par with shaving with the Fusion. I have switched to Wilkinson Sword blades and they are the best I have used yet! I'm getting 5 easy shaves from a blade with them. I could push it to 6 or 7 and still be doing better than after 3 with the Sharks.I am really enjoying double edge shaving. I highly recommend the Feather, it is a great product!

A very worthwhile introduction
A very effective and very cost effective razor. With a sharp blade, like Astra Superior Platinum, or Feather... it is capable of producing a very fine shave. Very lightweight, not much weight in the head. The balance point appears to be the TTO knurl. I would prefer something heavier, but, frankly, you can't go wrong with this one. One note of caution... as you're shaving, periodically check the tightness of the TTO knurl.... it does have a slight tendency to relax, which makes the head covers relax, resulting in an incorrect angle for the blade... painful!
