Compact size, very ergonomic, lot's of fun!
Just got my 3Doodler 2.0 and I was immediately impressed by its size. I was one of the early adopters of the 1.0 version and the 2.0 is amazingly thinner and a little shorter. The 3Doodler 2.0 is probably the size of a fat Sharpie marker. All this contributes to a better handling of the pen, as it fits in my hand very naturally now, very much like a pen. When I first used it, I used my thumb to press the buttons, but then I looked at the packaging and realized I should be using my index finger instead. Using the index finger made the 3 Doodler sit in my hand more ergonomically. The best new feature of 3Doodler 2.0 is the continuous flow of the plastic “ink”. By double pressing the high flow or the low flow buttons, the pen will continuously extrude the plastic and just one press will stop it. I found this feature to be very helpful when I am building a figure with cylindrical coils, like the legs of a robot. With the continuous flow, I was able to focus more on the positioning of the tip and where I needed the plastic to flow and/or adhere to.The 3Doodler 2.0 appears to be a little more quiet than the first version, but not to say that the current fan sound is that loud. After all, it does require a fan to cool off, so there will be some sound. No louder than your laptop’s fan running, I think. The box came with two packs of plastic in various colors and cleaning tools, just like the original. There is a quick start guide and a more detailed owners manual as well. One advice, be sure you have the temperature on the correct hi or lo setting for the corresponding plastic you are using. So do read the quick start guide! The power cable is about 6 feet long and I thought that was enough length for me. I usually play with my 3Doodler on the kitchen island, so there is an outlet right on the side. If you don’t have a lot of outlets in your home, then you may need an extension cord, but I just read online that there is a JetPack now. It’s pretty much a battery pack that allows you to be more mobile with your 3Doodler, kind of like a battery pack for your mobile phone when you’re on the go.Overall, I’m very happy with my 3Doodler 2.0. I ordered from Amazon and it was delivered on time. The only thing I need to do is be more creative, haha. Maybe I’ll download some of the stencils from the website. Or maybe just watch what my nieces and nephews will create. I would advise on having adult supervision when children are using it. The tip is quite hot, so I would not recommend children younger than 8 years old to play with it.Hope this review helps you future 3Doodlers! It’s really a lot of fun.

Cool idea-Worthless product
My daughter saved up her babysitting money and paid for this herself...unfortunately it was a complete waste of her hard earned $99. The pen worked for a single strand of plastic and then never worked again. Sadly, we continued trying to make the pen work using the company's mulitiple "troubleshooting" recommendations, and this took long enough that by the time we figured out it wasn't ever going to work, the company's 30 day return/exchange policy had passed. We are now stuck with a $99 pen that was defective from the start. This seemed like such a great new product and my daughter was so excited to create things with it, but unfortunately it's a bust. Don't waste your money.

Very Cool But Doesn't Work All The Time
I bought this as a Christmas present for my brother. It worked most of the time but not 100%. The door near the bottom of the pen wasn't putting enough pressure on the plastic for it to come out so you either have to grip it tightly or play around with it a little. Still a neat product, just frustrating at time.

My 3Doodles really took off! #BadPuns
While there is certainly a learning curve, with a little patience, even I - someone with a dearth of talent when it comes to visual arts - quickly started churning out Doodles that far exceeded my expectations (see DOODLEPLANE!!). There's a plethora of stencils available on their website that walk you through a lot of the designs you see in their marketing materials so, even for the noobs like me, if you can trace you can 3Doodle. In terms of support, I had one small issue surrounding the removal of the maintenance cover, and unlike the experiences of many, my problem was resolved in hours, not days. Through that discussion with the support staff I was also informed that up until only recently, many if not all vendors distributing 3Doodlers on Amazon were unauthorised resellers which may account for the high rate of defects and/or reports of inattentive customer service. So, take that for what it's worth. The plastic can get a little pricey depending on how large (and often) you Doodle and I have had a few fleeting instances with inconsistent flow speed, but neither are show-stoppers and therefore, IMO, the 3Doodler is clearly succeeding where so many other 3D pens have failed. Note: I saw they started selling tubes of 100 strands which at $24.99 give you considerably more bang for your buck. All in all, it's a solid, fun product that I'm sure will only improve over time but if you're going to purchase one, ensure you buy it from 3Doodler, not a third party.
