Very helpful book for beginner fine motor skills.
I got this for my 4 year old, who is a lefty AND has some trouble with fine motor skills. This book was extremely helpful to him, as a kid who could not cut AT ALL. In preschool, as the other kids were slowly learning to cut, he could only make small snips, so he was pretty far behind the other kids. He also gets discouraged very easily; as in, he would cry at the first mistake. This book starts so basic, and slowly ramps up the difficulty, so he was able to slowly learn to cut without getting frustrated. The book begins as straight lines down a page, then some curves, then zigzags, and then slowly branches out into other simple shapes, swirls and paths. My son liked looking forward to the next page to see what challenge he would face, since each page is a little harder than the last. Near the end, there are 2 cut and paste activities. We do a page almost every night, and we are down to the final 6 pages. His cutting has improved dramatically, and this is the only book we've been using. He can now continually cut down the page, stopping to switch directions and curving along swirls. It comes with 2 sheets of gold star stickers, and a chart in the back. My son enjoyed adding a sticker each night that he was done with his "homework". There are more stickers than needed for this book, so we will keep using them as we graduate to a more difficult scissor skill book. This book was so helpful to us, but my son was very, very far behind the other kids his age. If your child can cut at all, this book will probably be too easy. However, if this is your child's first introduction to cutting, or they are behind, this is perfect.

Perfect for Kindergarten
My little boy loves using this during the school day. The reward stars keep him wanting to do more!

Get this
This really helped make cutting fun for kids. It helped my child learn how to cute on the line, and the pictures were fun and creative. It was easy to use and great for the cost.

Pretty good, but read the description. ;)
Smaller than expected. It's 6 3/4" x 9 1/4". My fault - I didn't read the description, and expected 8.5x11 (the size of printer paper), which it is obviously not. Paper is decent quality. Pages are 1-sided (unlike what another review said). Pages 1-19 are straight lines. 21-29 are curved lines. 31-39 are complex lines (angles/ tighter curves). 41-51 require the kid to "twist" the page 360 degrees as they cut. Finally 53-63 are shapes. One thing to note, there are 64 pages in the book as the description states... but they are numbered front and back and the designs are ONLY on the odd pages, so there are actually only 32 cutting activities in the 64 pages. (E.g. page 1 is the cutting activity, page 2 is just the blank back of page 1, page 3 is the cutting activity, page 4 is the blank back of page 3, etc). I think $5 is a bit much for this, but it will do the trick. We also had the Melissa and Doug cutting activity book and while the quality is much better (thicker paper, better designs, larger size, albeit fewer pages), my 3 yr old got frustrated with the more complex cuts. This book should do the trick, it's quite similar to the activity she did at her Montessori school! Taking off 1 star because the description/ photos didn't make it crystal clear what I was buying, and even after going back and re-reading, I still feel a tiny bit "over-promised/ under-delivered". Hope this helps someone else!

It was alright
I thought the book it self was pretty basic. Most of them was just straight lines. My son got bored of it already.
