Easy to Use and Important to have.
This is a great way to store all of your passwords. I feel more secure using a separate device than storing them using the cloud or anything on my computer. You only need to remember one master password. You type the master password when you access it. Then you can put in the web site, the user name, and the password. No more sheets with hints. You can also put in bank account numbers, and credit card account numbers. Two things I had to figure out when I started to use it. 1) If you want to get the red punctuation marks above the numbers, don't press the red key. If you do you will turn the device off and then have to input your password again. Instead use the shift key. 2) If you want to go back to the previous action, press the red line just below the word action (which is just below the window). Other than these two things it was totally intuitive. I have started using random passwords and will no longer be using the same passwords for more than one site. My data will definitely be more secure, I am pleased that the device will not lose the passwords when you change the batteries. Best of all, it is the same device sold on the Sharper Image website, with free shipping : )

Works fine, very good manual, no lost P/Ws when using Edit, nice backlit function. 4.8 Stars, CDW
Bought Password Safe 090419, delivered 090719. It measures 4-7/8" (12cm) by 3-1/2" (9 cm) wide & about 1" thick (it tapers to 3/8"). Cons: no comma, semi-colon, lower case x looks like H, & I couldn't get the - to work. Pros: Easy to handle & make entries, backlight really helps in a darkened room. Eval: I entered 5 URLs with passwords (recorded elsewhere) and edited each in turn. After entering a new password I turned the device off, then on again. None of the other URLs or passwords were erased or altered in any way (previous complaint). You can enter passwords of 20 to 22 characters (it varies), depending on which characters are used. Since my passwords are longer I often wrote "see below" in the password area and entered the password in the Notes area. I also made comments like "entry #3 is a small X, not an H", or "character = is a dash -" , or " : is a comma"., etc. Screen entries are much easier to read than entries made on the Royal Password Vault, which I evaluate elsewhere. I would have evaluated other competitors, but no one sent me one. Summary: This is a useful, easy to use device for recording spur-of-the-moment passwords. It may also keep you from logging in to untrustworthy networks while traveling. Stars were reduced because the comma, semi-colonand dash were omitted. Worth having, worth the money, glad I bought it. 4.8 Stars. CDW

Best I can tell, best available Offline Password Vault -- but I have a few concerns / wishes
For our most sensitive passwords I am a big fan of offline password management. To date (Dec 2017), best I can tell this is the best of offline password vault devices available on the market, although it is pretty clunky. I have two of these and they have functioned well as claimed so far. But given my concerns / wishes, for several years I have also been monitoring for better alternatives but so far no luck -- but I will update this review if I ever find any. PROS: - Basically does what it claims ... it is an offline, secure password/sensitive information vault. - Each password entry supports multiple lines of text / special chars (limited, but good). - Don't recall its total capacity, but we have dozens of entries. - Batteries last long (for me, w/light usage, for at least a year). - I have been able to safely (w/o data loss) change the batteries (I carefully do this annually). - My 2 devices have been reliable so far (but a few reviewers claim their devices failed and lost data). - Reasonably good construction. CONS: - Clunky user interface and keyboard -- editing entries is doable, but tiresome. - Limited 3-line display but I'd prefer (and would pay) for a larger screen. - Good construction but I'd prefer (and would pay) for even better construction and quality. - Enough reviewers complain devices failed so do NOT use as your ONLY copy of vital data. - Does not come with a case, although I found one from Amazon that works pretty good. Bottom Line: Performs well enough as claimed and I recommend this product, although I hope some day to upgrade to something better.

Great device and operating system
I actually had a password safe from another store and just recently purchased one from Amazon to have two of these units. I cannot vouch for how long the unit will last, but only that I actually tested everything on the unit and it does work as advertised. I took the battery out to see if the unit will lose its memory, but sure enough, it has flash memory and worked again after reinstalling the batteries. The unit has three important items you need. You can use the website or name of what you intend to file alphabetically by the unit. The second item is usually your user name and last of all a place to store your password. It also has a note section to store notes on that password you have stored. I also owned the password fast that is good for traveling and much harder to input than the password safe. To me, password safe is fun and easy to use. It is a very well thought out device.

This Password Vault is a nifty thing to have in these tough scary days
I recently purchased the Password Vault here to store my many passwords in a safe & secure manner instead of writing it on paper and hope nobody else ever gets a hold of that paper. Good points so far: Entry Pin.....great feature which keeps unauthorized idiots from seeing your passwords. Fairly easy to use for the most part. Compact size and runs on 3 AAA batteries. Plus it has a backlight feature if needed. Bad points so far: If you have a password with many security questions or other notable items for a particular website, you cannot get it all in the "notes" section they have. This is a serious issue for me. Also, the qwerty keyboard has such tiny buttons....but that's just a minor issue. Oddly when I am typing in a new entry for this item....I cannot move the cursor over the letterings they already have in the unit [ID or PW for example], I have to retype them again. Also the LCD panel is rather smallish. Overall, this item is a nifty and good thing to have if you have a lot of passwords you use regularly and want to keep them safe from crooks or nosey idiots and to curb ID Theft. The PIN just to get into this Password Vault is a very good idea indeed. I gave this item 3 of 5 stars mostly because of the few drawbacks I have noticed so far. I intend to keep this and will use it. If they only had more room to store information in the "Notes" section, I would have given this a 4 of 5 stars most likely.

Great Unit.
It took a little getting used to because the "shift" key does not capitalize the letters, and only works on the "symbols". You have to turn the "caps lock" on & off to display the upper case letters. Once you get all your sites / IDs / PWs / Notes into the unit, it is GREAT. Just takes a little patience. And it also has a "backlight" to brighten the display...LOVE IT!!!! Also like that it is pw protected so it cannot be easily hacked-depending on the PW you use. It replaced the rolodex I used to use for all my passwords (349), because this holds 400. Addition to original review added 11/19/2014: After using this item for 4 months (and I loved it), I got a message stating "please replace the batteries". I replaced the batteries received with the unit, with brand new Duracell AAA batteries, and the unit did NOT work. I checked the new Duracell batteries with my battery tester (since I know sometimes you can get duds), and they were good. I cannot retrieve my passwords. I tried to contact "Modern Everyday" (the retail company that sells this item through Amazon @ 888-980-9963), and could not speak to any one. I left a message, and am still waiting for a call back.

A must have tool for password/passcode storage!
Love this item! I do not have to store important passcodes on my computer, a it’s super easy to edit the passcodes. This is a must have, if you change your passwords frequently!
