Doe’s precisely what it was made to do exceedingly well with minimal effort very quickly
Only started sharpening about a year ago with inexpensive water stone kits that seemed like I spent more time flattening and never produced a finish that felt even close to being worth the effort. Before I completely shunned sharpening I figured I would change it up a bit and switched to a dia-sharp extra course for heavy duty jobs and a duo-sharp stone and this for the final touch before strop and the results surpassed my highest hopes by far and I have flattened for the first time in 6 months only out of guilt of possibly some negligence on my part not because I felt it actually needed it. The best set up for me by far and worth every extra cent extra it cost x2. I really didn’t want to spend another penny on sharpening supply’s and was hesitant to do so but felt that I hadn’t invested enough time in the process to be sure it wasn’t my cup of tea and decided that along with time also try to find the highest quality plates and stones I was willing to pay for and set a limit of no more than $100 per all in which was easier than I thought and wish I would’ve just done that from the beginning to save a little time and money and have zero regrets now and so it was worth the all the time and every penny. Made me appreciate the old heard it a million times but hadn’t had taken such a huge bite out of “ you get what you pay for “ and took me up a couple levels Quick. You’ll be surprised the difference an extra $40-$60 will make if you can but you won’t be disappointed. That’s for sure!

Newb friendly
Basically as a newb to sharpening these stones will make you feel like you don't suck ass. If you're consistent with your grinding angle you can create a good solid edge. Good stones like this make the job easier.

Buy these
Should’ve have spent the money and went straight to these instead of buying cheaper two sided stones from Amazon. I paired this chosera with my Sharpal 325/1200 grit diamond stone after purchasing VG10’s and HAP40’s Japanese knives and I am happy. These stones sharpens very quickly and gives perfect feedback making sharpening quick and easy even with my harder Japanese HAP40 supersteel knives (66 HRC) that would otherwise eat up regular stones. Go straight to a chosera and spend that money, this stone is definitely well worth the price. I love it so much I also purchased the 800 grit and most likely will purchase the 5000 grit in the near future. So far the Sharpal 325/1200 diamond stone finished with the 3000 chosera then light stropping, seems to be enough to get my kitchen knives wickedly sharp.

I have used this to sharpen my good knives and am finding it and my honing steel great for general sharpening.

Very good quality stone
It is a high-quality sharpening stone with a great feel when sharpening. Ideally, it would not come attached to the base, as the base is not very useful. In my case, I removed it with the help of two flathead screwdrivers, and I currently use the stone with a sharpening stand, which I find more comfortable and practical.
