Picture perfection Multi Zone and Dolby Atmos
Great 4K and UHD player. Clunky interface but has DNLA and works well with my NAS and media player. Gorgeous picture with HDR and Dolby Atmos. This multizone player plays all of my imported Blurays as as promoted.

Truly Region Free and works perfect!
I was skeptical cause of so many reviews various places, but this thing works perfectly. I'm a horror movie collector, and spent some time in the UK. While there I bought some Dvds not knowing of region codes at the time. So imagine my surprise when I came home and realized they wouldn't work in any of my players. If you google Region Free Blu-ray player, this is one of the first choices. Not on here though it recommended best buy, but the same model. I checked the specs and it didn't say all region, but it didn't say it wasn't. Also as far as formats, it plays everything under the sun so I figured it would work. Nope! So I took that one back and found they only way to get the region free models was thru stores that mod them. I actually found this stores actual website before finding the Amazon store. I had some questions and their customer service was very prompt and informative. They assured me it was region free, and they were right. It plays all region dvds with no settings adjustments. To switch to region A, B, and C it there's an easy to follow instructions sheet to use with the remote. If you have any issues with any kind of playback error, you can reach out to them at any time for support. Would definitely buy again and recommend you do as well!

So far so good! (Update)
It will not play Top Gun: Maverick 4K UHD. Device has the latest firmware. Dropping to three stars. So far, everything has been satisfactory. I have used the player several times, and it functions well. While I do not particularly need the region-free feature, as all of my discs are Region 1 (and 4K UHD is universal), my primary requirement was the capability to connect it to a 220V outlet. Aside from that, it is an excellent player and delivers a clear picture.

Works wonderfully. Finally a true 4k experience.
So far no freezing or skips. In fact, this machine plays damaged discs that my old Blu Ray player did - or could not play. Let me also reiterate for those of y’all, that may not know: the 4k picture is truly better than any other small screen. If you are streaming, you are not truly seeing the beautiful crisp depth that a hard copy 4k disc can deliver. To get this you will need a 4k tv, a high speed HDMI cable, a 4k Blu ray player and a 4k UHD Blu ray disc. For those of us that care about picture quality this is the only way to go. For those of us that care about streaming censorship, or streaming availability, then hard copies of your favorites is a great investment.

Sony UBP-X800M2 Player crashes when it cannot play some multimedia files!
My X800M2 Region free DVD Player could not play several of my YouTube MP4 video files from my USB Flash drives. Each time it encountered a file that it could not play, a spinning wheel would appear in the upper right corner of the screen and would continue to spin indefinitely. I depressed the Stop key, Menu key, Power key, nothing would stop the player until I unplugged it. There should be a timeout of 20, 30, or 60 seconds until the player stops trying to read the file and informs the user that the file is corrupt, or unreadable, whatever. At the very least you should be able to hit the Pwr button on the player to get it to stop. You should NOT have to unplug the device from the outlet! My previous Sony UBP-X700 player was able to play these same USB flash drive multimedia files just fine. I also have the exact files on 2 different flash drives and the X800M2 was not able to play those particular files it had problems with on either of the flash drives. But they played great on the X700. All of my Region free DVDs played ok, as well as some 4K Blu Rays. It was a pleasure not having to switch codes via remote from one region to the next just to play a DVD of a different region. However, certain 4K Blu Rays with Dolby Vision would cause a color and brightness change in the playback. Flesh tones would appear reddish and the overall brightness would dim throughout the playing of the DVD. If I exit the DVD and play a standard Blu Ray DVD that does not feature Dolby Vision the color and brightness would look great. This did not happen with the X700. My Sony Home Theatre Receiver & Samsung 4K TV both includes Dolby Vision, so neither of those devices are at fault. I do not want to reset the player to see if it would make a difference. I do not recall there being any settings in the Setup Menu that specifically targeted the playing of USB multimedia files, that resetting the player would make a difference. But resetting might correct the Dolby Vision issues, idk. Most of all I do not want to lose or interfere with the Region Free settings by resetting the player to Factory defaults. Also this player only has 3 streaming services, Netflix, Amazon Prime, & YouTube! There is no empty slot with a + to add any more. Not on the Opening Menu screen or within the Settings menu. The X800 is supposed to be the upgrade to the X700. The X700 has 12 streaming services by default with the ability to add 6 more. Why would Sony limit the X800 to only 3, when they RAVE about the ability to upscale media to near 4K resolution! Older movies on streaming services like Tubi, Freebee, Hulu, Vudu, etc would greatly benefit from the upscale features but not if they cannot be added! Netflix, Prime, & YouTube already have built in upgrade services that they charge users rates to upgrade the media you want to watch, to SD, HD, HDX, 4K. But If the streaming service apps like Tubi cannot be added through this DVD player then the user cannot take advantage of any free upscale features the DVD player would provide you with! At this time, I would not recommend this Player to anyone thinking of buying this model. The continuous read attempts without stopping after 20 or 30 seconds is a definite deal breaker alone for me. Not being able to play certain common MP4 media files via USB flash drives is also a deal breaker. I was definitely not happy with this purchase and so I returned it! I would NOT recommend this Player to anyone that I know.

The Sony Ultra 4K X-800M2 player is a solid build and offers HDR10 and Dolby Vision playback capabilities, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X as well as hi-res audio support and a host of fantastic other features. Fayz Electronics shipped the player in less than 7 days and assured me that it was an original product from Sony with Multi region code free player that includes Netflix and youtube streaming, however prime video is missing. The player I received is original from the seller with a sealed box from Malaysia. On performance, the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs and standard Blu-ray discs all lived upto its expectations and displayed onscreen HDR10 content. The player can play almost all audio files formats FLAC, ALAC and even DSD for audiophiles. Blu-ray/DVD upscaling is not that great, its not worth trying to upscale all your favorite old low definition movies on your 4K screen. Use the BRAVIA mode as the feature is optimized for BRAVIA Sony TVs. Overall, One of the best players from Sony with excellent image quality, and is a good choice if you are looking for a universal player over the Panasonic DP-UB820 which is a bit better, but more expensive.
