Who Was Nelson Mandela?

These are GREAT books for students in grades 3 and 4. Very age appropriate, but with just enough information to give them what they need for a report of project. The diversity of topics in this series is wonderful. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to do research with elementary students.

Read the book to my 7 year old in a full hour with water breaks LOL! Overall easy read a few words you will have to explain however the big words already equipped in the text were already elaborated. 7 year old understood everything from A to Z and enjoyed the comparison the book provided regarding Gandhi MLK and Nelson Mandela. High interest for my 4th grade students, a difficult topic to understand when you lack a world-view, but this book bridges that gap well! Would recommend for an elementary biography unit.

Love these books. My son, who is 9 has been reading them for a little over a year now and this book is wonderful. I must say that this one is not one of his favorites. He is a history junkey, lol. He so far seems to love the Jackie Robinson, Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Robert E Lee, What is the world series the best as a 8 and 9 year old. I also read these to him in the evenings and I really enjoy them as a 40 year old father. I have learned so much from them as well. Sometimes I read them before or after my son in order to have an educated discussion with him about the subject of the book. I really also get alot out of them as well.

Great, kid-friendly read. Mature themes communicates in a way children can understand. This book will help a young generation carry on Mandela 's legacy
