It is a good idea but a poor design
It should be heavier so it could be really used as a pad. It is not very precise as a mouse. It is a good idea but a poor design.

Thought it would great for a PC for playing movies on a TV, but using a regular mouse on my leg or a end table works much better.

Great concept, executed well, but not perfect...
If, like me, you operate your main PC from the sofa, then you'll now that using a mouse isn't always the most comfortable of options. My smart TV came with a handheld touchpad remote, which I like and works well, and I'd been looking for something similar for the PC. Enter the Asus Vivomouse. It's basically a mouse, with a touchpad stuck on the top instead of buttons. It's rather cumbersome to use it as a mouse, but sit the rear "handle" in the palm of your hand and the device starts to come into it's own.It sits comfortably in the hand, and you can use your thumb to operate the touch pad. Standard touchpad functionality here, with a press on either the left or right side of the touchpad mimicking the respective left or right mouse button. A minor gripe is that you can often not realise you're pressing the wrong part of the touchpad to mimic the mouse buttons. There are a couple of other finger movements to activate different functionality - page up and down involves 2 and three finger motions, although the main function I use is to scroll, and that involves stroking the circumference of the bottom of the touchpad, which is a little counter intuitive when you you want to scroll up and down. It works effectively though. What isn't so successful is "dragging" to select either text or move a window, it requires practice to get the quick sucession of taps, and dragging motion to get it to work effectively. If you do a lot of text or window based work, this isn't ideal.Sensitivity can also be an issue at times - it can appear to be variously over- or under-sensitive. Occasionally the device can also either seem to stop working, or start to behave like it's got a mind of its own. The latter I think it down to an oversensitive laser causing the mouse to believe it's being used on a surface. The former issue seems to get cured by putting the mouse on a surface for a moment and then picking it up again, or clicking the touchpad button.I love the concept of a palm held pointing device, and whilst I'd like to see improvements to functionality, before wholeheartedly recommending it, overall I'm pleased with it. I've not gone back to using my standard wireless mouse since buying the VivoMouse.

Too many problems
This mouse is something that you like IF are willing to put up with its issues, or else you regret your purchase within a week or two. The sensor on the mouse is also pathetic, it works on a very few select materials, infact I've never used a mouse in the past that is so picky on what materials it works with, even the cheap £2 mice you get from a comical store (I did test this) has a bigger range of materials it can operate on. But when it does work, boy does it track well.

Very frustrating. Avoid.
I would avoid buying this mouse unless you intend to mostly be browsing web-pages...and if you're going to be doing that you can get a workable mouse for £5 from a supermarket. Its a nice idea, but it falls down because it doesn't have any option to adjust settings apart from turning on or off the touchpad gestures....and it is far too sensitive. You cannot hold it while resting your fingers anywhere on the pad, because it interprets even the slightest twitch as a gesture and ends up doing something you never wanted it to.And that's when its actually under your nominal control. It has a habit of acting as if you've clicking even when you aren't actually touching the pad...I've seen it rapid click on things when I'm not even holding it. A mouse that does things you didn't tell it to do is not helpful. Also I found it hard to get it to register a "left click", and the gesture for "Open Drop Down Menu" just doesn't work...so this is not recommended for even casual gaming.
