Worth every penny. My father loves it and has already got it full of home grown cucumbers pickling.It can even be air tight by adding water on top.Its large and simply put quality.Its just a decent old school and traditional fermentation/pickling jar. Worth every penny.

Made my first batch of saurkraut. It was ok. I need to work out exactly how much salt to use and make sure the liquid completely covers the fermenting cabbage. It is a bit of an art.

I chipped the edge of my old 5l one while thumping cabbage into the bottom.This is a better size, not too heavy when full, six shredded cabbages just about fit, I just need to make sure I don't hit the top edge on this one while filling!

I bought this as a gift as I wanted to buy an about Sauerkraut pot rather than a modern copy. It had to come from Germany to the UK and I was given a delivery time of up to three weeks which I accepted. However, the put was delivered in four days! It was very well packaged which was a relief as being ceramic it could easily have been damaged in transit. It looks great, is very sturdy but not too heavy to be lifted comfortably when full and is currently when away in the kitchen. We have shredded the cabbages for the first trial but I would estimate that it could hold four or even five. It's not cheap and you have to factory in the delivery cost but it certainly looks like a quality, traditional item that will do the job admirably.
