Autopen 24 Ins Pen 3ml 1-21 Units

I bought this syringe to replace my Sanofi Allstar pro, as I am due to have surgery on my right hand and will need to use my left hand only to give insulin. I thought this might be easier for use with my left hand, as I am very strongly right handed. I personally found this syringe a) no easier to use with my left hand than my Sanofi Allstar Pro. b) shoots the insulin into the body very quickly which can be painful, also the rapid administration appeared to cause more bruising. With the Sanofi Allstar Pro I can control the rate and thus the force of administration. c) does not “click” with each unit given, so there is no secondary method of ensuring you have administered the correct amount. With the Sanofi Allstar Pro I can count each of the clicks in order to ensure I have taken the correct dose of Lantus insulin. Very important with hypoglycaemic unawareness. So I am personally reluctant to recommend this syringe for the administration of Lantus insulin.
