Q: D size tank online shows 20" tall. However package dimensions show less than 12". How can this be?

This is our packaging size. The backpack is 20 '' in length, and it can hold the D tank securely.

Q: Will this fit an acetylene B tank?

Hello Cat, I use this backpack for size "D" oxygen cylinders. They are about 20-inches tall and fill the pack completely. I checked the size of "B" oxygen cylinders. They are about 11-inches tall so will fit. BUT you asked about acetylene tanks. Are these the same size as oxygen tanks. I hope my answer about the 20-inch tall oxygen tanks help you figure our if your acetylene tank will fit. Take a look at my review of this pack. It is good. I lengthened the straps for a more comfortable fit as I am a big guy.
