My 3DS XL fits in here perfectly.
I bought this for my brand new 3DS XL that my roommate bought me for Christmas. I also own a PSP and the two must share a backpack pocket when I pack a bag to travel or spend the night somewhere else. I got a pouch for my PSP and I bought this for my 3DS XL. Pros 1. Solid construction. The outer shell is a sort of nylon plastic substance that doesn't bend or crush easily. The inside is a felt material to protect the 3DS from scratches or fading. Using the straps, you can fit both a 3DS and a 3DS XL in this case. 2. The little flap opens up to hold 3 games. I don't own many yet and I know I'll have far more than 3 games eventually. However, for traveling over a weekend or overnight, 3 games is more than enough. 3. The 3DS XL fits snugly with and without the straps. 4. Weirdly enough, there's a Nintendo 3DS logo on the front but Amazon decided to leave the AmazonBasics logo off of it. While I wouldn't have been concerned if they'd included it in the slightest, it's nice to see only one logo on the front. Cons 1. The inside could have been more padded. I have no problem using this to protect my 3DS XL against other objects in my book bag but I would be nervous if I dropped this onto the floor. Especially hard surfaces like kitchen floors, hardwood floors, or things like concrete. Overall, for my (admittedly light) uses, this case is perfect. It's cheap, keeps my 3DS safe against the other things rumbling around in my bag, and carries a few spare games. I couldn't ask for more at this price point.

Fantastic quality and price, but a little big.
I purchased this since I needed a case for my New 3DS XL; at the price I thought it was a no-brainer so I took the plunge. I'm very pleased with the quality of the case, it feels great to the touch the zipper is smooth and the straps really hold whichever DS/3DS you put in it nice and tightly. The material that makes up the protective parts of the case is nice a hard but with a little bit of give so it doesn't feel like a brick but it does provide a great protective layer in the events of bumps or drops. The only cause for concern is that if you carry your 3DS XL in your pocket for the most part this is NOT the case for you. The added bulk of the case limits what you can carry it in; your options are limited to a purse, backpack or large cargo pockets. Being that I don't carry any of the aforementioned items on me I find myself leaving the 3DS at home more often now. Which is fine, I didn't use it much outside of the house anyway these days. The case is going to be great for longer trips when I can pack it into a travel bag and such. Only get this if you carry your device in a bag anyway and not your pockets

Great Case!
This is a fantastic case for the price. It is not a hard case but it would definitely offer some protection if you happened to drop it or it was lightly knocked around (I wouldn't try stepping on it or anything though!). I use it for the New Nintendo 3DS and it fits perfectly snug in there, it also has 3 slots to put games into, you may be able to squeeze an extra game in each slot but I have not tried it. Despite the low cost of this case I feel the quality is pretty good. I noticed some people complained of a smell from the case, when I first got it I noticed a feint odor but I just left it by the window for a couple hours and it was gone by then. A couple things I would wish for would be a wrist strap built in, also there is a lot of empty real estate on the inside top of the case which I wish they added more game slots to since it's just a blank slate. To be honest though for the price and the quality of this case I can not take off stars for those things.

Basic Nintendo Case
The AmazonBasics Carrying Case for the Nintendo 3DS is a decent case to have and does well to protect your handheld system. The case is also compatible with the 3DS XL, DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL and comes at a great price. What I like about this case is how firm and sturdy it is, when applying pressure it gives a resistance that is sure to protect your handheld system from impact or compression while traveling. The inside of the case is well padded with soft material to protect the system from scratches and contains elastic straps and pockets for games that will hold everything in place. What I dislike about this case is that it only has 3 pockets for games and no pouches for accessories, and while it fits many Nintendo handheld systems even with the “XL” sizes there is still room enough for the system to slide from side to side, which may only be a minor issue, but I would have preferred for it to have more of a snug fit. Lastly the shiny outer material is a fingerprint magnet, making everyone mark and smudge clearly visible. While I am satisfied with this case for protection and portability purposes I could not recommend this case to anyone looking to travel with many games and accessories as there is just not enough space with this case, but if you are just looking for a simple case to protect your handheld system at the price of $9.99 this case may be great for you. Pros: Great protection for your handheld system Portability Price Cons: Lack of game and accessory storage Fingerprint Magnet

A very good case for its price
For the price under $10, this case is wonderful. It is built strong and solid, and fits my 3DS XL perfectly. The game slots, though are few, are very easy to put the games in and take them out. If you can organize the items well enough, this case can hold a cleaning cloth, ear buds, and even some extra styli. The main drawback is that it can only hold 3 games, which proves to be a problem for people who wants to carry all their games around (like I do). Furthermore, it does not have a strap, but even if it falls you can still be assured that your precious 3DS is still as safe as can be. In the end, this is the cheapest yet best quality case I could find under $10. The Hori case is a little more expensive and can hold many more items, but as many people said, it is too big even for a 3DS XL, so if you want something that REALLY fits your 3DS, buy this instead.

Great for 3DS XL Too
I was very impressed with the overall quality of this case for the price. It's of comparable quality to anything in the same price-range as something from Hori or Nintendo, but it's more readily available as it comes directly from Amazon. The item is sturdy, doesn't smell funny (which is often a problem with similar "hard" rubberized cases), and the screen printing for the logo is nice and clear. The 3 cartridge sleeves for holding games are a tad more tight than I would like, but they'll loosen up with use. I was looking for a case that would keep my new 3DS XL safe, but the majority of items currently on the market that were of a compatible size for that system still read "DSi XL" on the cover, or merely showed the general 2-rectangle DS symbol. I wanted a case that explicitly said "3DS" on it, to distinguish it from my other handhelds. This product from AmazonBasics fit the bill perfectly. So to reiterate, though the product description doesn't say so outright, this case will work perfectly for a 3DS XL. I would not recommend this case for someone looking to store/protect one of the non-XL DS systems (DS, DS Lite, DSi, 3DS). The case is quite large, and although there are 2 different sizes of elastic straps for holding your system in place while traveling, there's still far too much empty space around the edges for my comfort. Someone who is in a hurry might neglect to use those straps, and then their system would jostle around far too much. A DSi XL or 3DS XL on the other hand is a snug, secure fit even without the straps. I would imagine the smaller system's mentioned in the item's description were simply thrown in as a catch-all because they technically will fit . . . just not securely.

Amazing for the 3DS XL!
Hello Amazon people, I've owned the AmazonBassics Carrying Case since August 2013, and it is now December 31st, 2013. I find myself writing this review because I wanted to be helpful at least once before we celebrate the new year. For those of you living in the future, one without an AmazonBasics Carrying Case, I urge you to correct that issue at once! This case has performed amazingly well during the course of my busy College kid lifestyle; It's so easy, you can just unzip this lovely case and put the 3DS XL or similiarly sized device in, and zip it up. The felt padding keeps it nice and safe from gravity's harsh forces. The outer layer is a soft but sufficiently strong and durable cover that has survived four months of me tossing it in my backpack and walking around campus. I keep my 3DS on so that I can get all those sweet, sweet StreetPasses, so the unit overheating is a non-issue. You also, could opt to use the rubber band straps to tightly secure the unit, however, with me frequently accessing the unit, I find it better to just put it on top of the straps and jangle around. The soft felt protects it anyway and any minor abrasion from moving around on the straps, is limited to the bottom of my device. However, I don't think those straps could scrape or scratch it anyway. It is again, a non-issue. The only issue you'll be having is what games to carry, since you're only limited to four. There are three very tight and snug pouch sleeves where you slide single game cards into. Admittedly, it may be a big too snug because it requires a bit of finesse to get them out. When you do, you'll notice that even the sleeve thingies that you slide the game cards into are padded. Everything is safe in this thing. The last game will be the one located inside your 3DS. Plan accordingly! Sure you might not be able to fit a bunch of games in this specific carrying case, but I personally don't believe it to be much of a problem since if I were to be out and about playing video games, and some how had enough time to burn myself out on four video games, and still have battery, i'd probably have spent the money on an auxiliary case that holds my entire game card library and other accessories that are must have for extended play sessions. This thing was designed to be picked up and brought with you wherever. For me, my 3DS is always in my backpack, with the current games i'm most interested in playing. Final Words: If you're looking for a case to not only hold your 3DS and the best of your game library that you couldn't do without, while not looking tacky or gaudy with designs or game characters, this is the case for you. It's beauty is its simplicity and for $10, it's an absolute must have!

Great basic case
When I first bought my 3DS XL, I got a flimsy, soft case but wanted something a little sturdier for travel purposes. This case fits the bill perfectly. Its exterior is quite durable and I feel comfortable with the protection it gives. The straps on the inside snugly hold my 3DS XL so that it doesn't shift/jostle around, which was a feature I really wanted in a case. The case also has room to carry around three games, which may not be enough for some people, but as somebody without a huge number of games for the 3DS, it serves my needs fine. I'd also look elsewhere if you plan on carrying around a lot of accessories-- with the 3DS XL in it, there's not a whole lot of extra room for chargers, etc. But overall, if you're just looking for a simple but sturdy case to protect your 3DS, I think this case represents a great value, and serves its purpose well.
