Anamorphosee

Wow, what a tapestry of sophisticated sound, her voice is angelical and seductive, no wonder she sells the most in France!
Was surprised to find such a high quality remastering for the price, it is 180 grams or more, brand new, cleaned once and it sounds clear and quiet. It is my first Mylene album but not the last. The album is very cohesive with a lot of influences, her voice is ethereal and quiet. Very lucky to own this copy and it is numbered. One can tell it is a masterpiece when you listen to it twice and feel the urge to listen again. I don't speak french but listening to Francoise Hardy since the 80's have paved the way to listen to other french female vocalists. No wonder she is so popular in France; beautiful voice and arrangements. Good job to the seller and Amazon, like always top notch service and feedback. Sophistication in sound is the word that comes to my mind when listening to Amorphosee. "California" and "Alice" are out of this world!

i love it without a doubt!
I've been wanting this cd for a long time and I finally decided to get a few weeks ago and the music is moody, unique, and so cool. To me this stands out as a classic and I don't really dislike any of the tracks on here since they all pretty much mesh well together. I totally recommend this album if anyone is interested in checking out Mylene Farmer 90's work.

grown up mylene
this album was made after mylene made her visit to california. she mentioned how she loved being able to walk the streets without being harassed by tons of fans, the way she often is in europe. she being a person who enjoys being solitary at times, it was a really good thing for her... well on with the music... in this album she seems a lot more relaxed, and the songs are not as dark or depressing as the ones on her previous albums. this is like a new mylene emerging as a woman who has found her place in music and into a category of music with a rock edge to it, something that was absent in the past. again, she does not fail to grow as an artist. my fav tracks are "alice", "et tournoie" and "l'instant X"... the video for the latter included a very sexxy mylene, which i did not mind seeing either :)the track "XXL" does not fail to empower women either, which again shows how mylene has changed her subject matter in songs compared to her previous ones... this is a true change from "ainsi-soit je", "cendres de lune", and "l'autre"... one which i doubt you will find distasteful... :)

EVOLUTION
More guitars and stronger/"rockier" arrangements for her sophisticated songs (& lyrics), in this her fourth studio album, and part of her personal "process" of evolution which has culminated...so far...with her poetic masterpiece, the album "Innamoramento". Standout songs: "Alice", "XXL", "Comme J'ai Mal", "L'instant X", "Eunanisme"....well, the entire recording is AA++!!!. If you want to listen to the live versions of most of this album's songs, buy "Live a Bercy" (of which a companion great DVD (zone 2) exists), her best live (IMHO) record until now, because it combines very well pop, rock an melodic ballads (Although "Mylenium Tour" is also a personal favorite, but in the case of this one you ought to watch the DVD as well!!). Bravo Mylene.

La mort douce
After a four-year lay-off, Mylene returned in 1995 with this aggressively packaged album which came as a disappointment to me. The problem is that Mylene's producer Laurent decided to take a more conventional rock approach -- with loud guitars and driving rhythms on one hand, and shallow ballads on the other. Even worse, the talent of studio musicians like Abraham Laboriel(!) and Danny Fongheiser doesn't shine: Technical virtuosity squandered in the presence of cliched rock riffs, synthesized arrangements, and slick production. Besides, this album offers a too obvious 'rock whore' image. Since Mylene isn't Courtney Love, all these lyrics dealing with her erotic fantasies and the open-hearted photo booklet are pretty calculated. Only the well-flowing single "XXL" leaves a lasting impression, the rest strays too far from Mylene's signature sound and lacks the thrill and depth of her best songs like "Sans contrefacon". As a result, "Ana" wasn't much of a success, and the single "XXL" didn't even make the charts in Germany. Fortunately, the subsequent "Innamoramento" marked a return to Mylene's well-known style.

Tres Bon Bon
Sous le ciel de Californie...Buy this! And Live à Bercy! Back in 1998 I bought her album Live à Bercy and was completely amazed... Years before I was thrilled by XXL on the radio! Now I bought everything new of her! I have just bought her new album "Avan que L'Ombre..." with a bonus dvd on a marvellous digipack.I want to say that nobody talks about the great photographer Herb Ritts (1952-2002) who photographed Mylene with a terrific look! Like he have done with Madonna in True Blue...BUY THIS NOW! And Les Mots and Innamoramento and ... especially Live À Bercy wich have a great moment with Khaled La Poupée Qui Fait Non! Buy also all her dvds!Merci Mylene!

French and Female
Good, catchy tunes, good beat, good voice with good tone.Personally I think Alizee had an amazing voice and pretty youthful looks...but the music is very similar, since it's written by the same pplI'm into classical music, mainly, so I haven't listened to this much... but I will in time. For female French singers, Alizee is my first choice and this is second

As good as it gets...
This is a great album, it's one of the best pop albumn of the 90's. If you like great vocals and lyrics, you'll not be disappointed. Such a shame that Mylene's huge talent is neglected by English speaking markets.Mylene is one of the greatest acts of the modern age and even if you can't speak French you'll be touched by these songs as she transcends language and resonates with the human condition.I can't believe that these songs aren't covered by British and American acts in the same way that Hollywood has ripped off French Cinema. Maybe it's no bad thing as it would perhaps only debase this wonderous pop perfection.XXL and California are classics, and the rest of the tracks more than stand up on their own. It's about 10 years since I first heard this albumn and I don't think I'll ever tire of listening to it.

Superb album
A great French album that shows how narrow our view of music is in the UK
