I can't figure out how to put on the dispenser - is there more detailed pictures - the little booklet just doesn't tell me enough.

The Spigot? With all parts disassembled: 1. Place one rubber gasket on threaded part of the spigot (valve), 2. now push the threaded segment through the glass of the jar where there's a hole near the bottom, 3. put the other rubber gasket on the spigot inside the jar, 4. place the threaded nut on the threaded part of the spigot and tighten hand tight only (no tools). Nice and tight. Put water in jar. If it leaks, empty and tighten a little more till it doesn't.

Just received mine and there is nothing in the paperwork starting it's lead-free. I don't think it's safe to assume that it is.

Is the ice core resistant to alcohol?

It isn’t resistant to alcohol. I used it with wine and it left marks on the core which is annoying. Is the core food plastic?
