Use it with your KINDLE.
The book seat came in to my home today,It is already in my heart.Made primarily for tree books you have to use it a little differently when used with an e-reader or a tablet. For any users of Kindle e-readers who have not handled a Kindle Fire - Fires alter their orientation by themselves depending on the angle at which they are held. Some games use this as part of the game therefore Kindle Fire owners may have to LOCK their devices orientation to keep it steady. On Kindle e-readers the user chooses one orientation or the other and that does not change unless they alter it back. Kindle Fire 7" is the same width as a e-reader but is taller. The Kindle Fire HD 7" is wider but is the same height as the Kindle Fire 7". The Kindle Fires are also heavier so this is why their readers might like this stand. Each Bookseat has a clear Perspex plate with a hole in it which has elastic and a button-lock to loosen and tighten. I think the idea is to keep tree book pages from turning themselves. For the Kindle device this plate just helps to keep the device in place but it is not a security device and if anyone else knocked the bookseat it could move the Kindle device out of its place so be aware of this. The Kindle device has a surround with a glass screen set in it. Part of the glass screen is black, trouble is different devices have different widths of glass area outside the touch zones and the Bookseat's Perspex area covers parts of these.Kindle e-readers and Kindle Fires have different widths of black glass screen parts so I'll try and describe each as regards the bookseat's perpex plate.Reading e-books and text on Kindle Basics and Kindle Touch - sitting up in bed, sitting on a chair, a car seat or lying down on a beach with the Bookseat in front of you.Kindle Basic - Portrait mode - The Perspex plate covers none of the glass screen at all but all bottom buttons are behind it. Page turning buttons of course are higher up so you can read and turn pages by pressing the buttons but it is more awkward than touching the buttons when you hold the device in your hand. You'd have to remove the e-reader from behind the plate to change your book or size of font etc.Kindle Basic - Landscape mode - The side edges of the Basic are narrower, you'll find the Perspex plate covers the bottom line of text. One set of turning buttons is now on the top and when you press you are pressing them down which is easier than when the Kindle Basic is in portrait mode on the Bookseat. I carry on reading if my battery runs out of power by plugging in the charging lead, with the Kindle Basic in Landscape mode you can have the cable plugged into the device as the microUSB socket is at the side in this position. All buttons are accessible and its easy to press a turn page forward or back button.Kindle Touch e-reader - Portrait mode - None of the screen is covered by the Perspex plate. The single button at the bottom is. You can turn pages easily without moving the Perspex plate.Kindle Touch e-reader - Landscape mode - bottom line of the screen is covered by the clear plate, the one button is not and the charging socket is accessible. As the Kindle Basic, Touch and Keyboard are fairly light and if you have the Bookseat on the floor or a secure place away from the edge of table or bed, you could put the Perspex plate flat and pop the device on the plate behind the elastic's button.Reading the Kindle Basic and the Kindle Touch lying down on your side.Put the Kindle Basic on the "step" on one of its sides and manoeuvre the beads so the Bookseat is lower down at one side but try to have some beads for the device to rest on.As you'll be lying down to read the book you will have to have the device's orientation set as at your eye levelExactly as for the Kindle Basic device but as the Kindle Touch has audio facilities you'll have to set the volume before you place the book on the Bookseat as there is no external volume control.Kindle Keyboard e-reader - this is a tall e-reader as it has a physical keyboard at the bottom.Kindle Keyboard e-reader - Portrait mode - The whole screen is above the Perspex plate. Both sets of turning page buttons are accessible by pressing but this moves the Bookseat a little as with the Kindle Basic.Kindle Keyboard e-reader - Landscape mode - As with the Basic and Touch, the Perspex plate covers the bottom of the screen but as I wrote before if you have the Bookseat on the floor or a secure place away from the edge of a table or bed - as the Kindle Keyboard is light like the Basic and the Touch you could put the Perspex plate flat and pop the device on the plate behind the elastic's button.Kindle Keyboard e-reader - Reading lying on your side -The Kindle Keyboard can be set up like the Basic and the Touch. Pop the device on the "step" Landscape mode but have the text set to read in PORTRAIT mode so the lines are level with your eyes. With the Keyboard you have the advantage of choosing the orientation that puts the keyboard part at the lowest end of the Bookseat so most of the corner covered by the Perspex plate is the actual keyboard. The charging socket is accessible and also the volume controls.Kindle Fire 7" - Portrait mode - Reading e-books and Text. This model has narrow edges and the black part of the screen when reading e-books is narrow too. To avoid having the Perspex plate on the bottom lines of text though you can LOCK the orientation with the charging socket and on/off button at the bottom as the edging is wider at that end. Turning pages is wonderful. If your battery is running low you can LOCK the orientation with the charging socket at the top so you can plug in a cable though then the Perspex plate would be on the text and the speakers would be on the Perspex plate (see below how having the Bookseat very close can mean you don't need the Perspex plate holding the Kindle Fire in place).Kindle Fire 7" - Landscape mode - reading e-books and text.Perspex plate covers bottom line but if you manoeuvre the beads so there are more beads at the bottom front you'll find you can arrange the perspex plate like a ledge with the elastic's button underneath and sit the Kindle Fire on the ledge leaning backwards - you can do this because of where the beads moved to. This also stops what is now the lower speaker from being muffled a bit.Kindle Fire 7 " - playing games. - on/off button and charging sockets are at one narrow end and Speakers are at the opposite end.Portrait Mode - To play games with the Kindle Fire 7" stood up I'd have the Perspex place in situ for very young children. The Kindle could fall or slide sideways especially if two are playing with it. You can change the orientation and lock so that the charging socket is at the top but then the speakers would be on the Perspex plate or on the fabric.Landscape Mode - As above but for older children and adults to play games you will probably have the Kindle Fire very close to you so it is not likely to drop off unless someone is roughousing. I have found it ok to stand the Kindle Fire 7" on the perspex plate with the elastic's button under it so the Kindle Fire leans backwards - though if you are playing a game where you need to hover near a touch point on the screen the plate can dig in OR you can press the elastic's button and slide it along so the elastic with the button dangles out of the way. Depending on the game of course and the age of the child. On/Off buttons and headphone sockets are accessible at one end and the speakers at the other end when the Kindle Fire 7" is in landscape mode.Kindle Fire HD 7" - The Kindle Fire HD 7" - This model has wider edges and the part of the glass screen which is black when reading e-books and text is wider therefore the Perspex plate reaches just over the edge of the white part of the text page. With the camera eye at the top the headphone socket, controls both Volume and On/Off and one speaker are at the right hand side and there is another speaker at the left hand side. The Charging socket is on the opposite long side to the camera eye - this is important to me - see below.Kindle Fire HD 7" - Reading e-books and TextYou can choose which of 4 orientation to have the text in when reading. If your battery is low and you want to read with the charging cable in situ you can - you have the camera eye at the bottom so the cable can be plugged in at what is the top in this orientation.Kindle Fire HD 7" - Playing Games -Portrait Mode - more or less the same as for the Kindle Fire 7" except the surrounding edges are wider as the device is a little bigger therefore less of the touch screen is covered by the perspex plate and one of the speakers will be at the bottom.Kindle Fire HD 7" - Playing Games -Landscape Mode - As the Kindle HD 7" but remembering the surrounding edges are wider so the Perspex plate covers less of the touch screen anyway. There is one problem though. The charging socket and HDMI are on a long edge and there are SOME GAMES you can ONLY play in landscape mode with the camera eye ALWAYS at the top. This also goes for some apps such as some TV apps, so if the battery is low - - - -- - - - it means that if the battery charge is low you cannot play games that insist on being played just one way up in landscape mode with the microUSB cable plugged in as the charging socket is at the bottom. Unfortunately one of these games is my current fave which is Angry Birds in Rio.I do have a specially bought 6 foot long cable with USB at one end and an L-shaped microUSB plug at the other which would allow a Kindle device to work with the camera eye edge at the top ie., so the Kindle Fire HD 7" would be sitting on the Lshaped plug as the cable feeds to the left and the length of the cable allows you to sit a little distance from your mains socket anyway.Well it's been a lot of work compiling this but it proves how useful the BookSeat is for e-books. The games details will of course just be incidental to a dedicated Kindle e-book reader. (human reader I mean).I did buy the other cushion that folds for books and tablets but I think this cushion is better for reading the smaller tablets though I have found the folding cushion actually works well with my 15.6" Wndows 8 laptop which was a surprise.Hope you can all understand what I have typed and that it helps.

I love the Book Seat !
I was looking for something to hold my Kindle as I have nerve damage and sometimes find it painful to hold. I saw the Book Seat and thought I would give it a go. It is fab! I can read for ages in comfort. Although you have to take it off to access the menu and other function buttons on the Kindle, that is a very very minor problem. You can turn the pages easily and the the plastic lip helps to keep the Kindle secure. You do have to be careful when you move it but that would be the same with an ordinary book.It is very light and easy to wipe clean. The Book Seat is one of the best products I have bought in ages and is the perfect partner to my Kindle.

Great idea but could be much better
The book seat arrived, beautifully wrapped in pretty tissue in a strong box, less than 24 hours after placing the order, which is superb service.I too bought this for an elderly aunt with arthritis but I took it out to inspect it and test it for usability before giving it to her for Christmas. Unlike some, I don't like the feel of the fabric. It feels fuzzy and cheap to me. It is certainly lightweight though and holds a book very well, keeping the pages flat enough to read without straining the spine of a paperback. Turning a page requires two good hands - one to lower the acrylic flap while the other turns the page - so perhaps not suitable for someone with advanced arthritis.I tried it with a magazine and it would hold it but not without a bit of fiddling and any movement tended to knock it over. Still, it's a book seat not a magazine seat :) and a very clever idea indeed. The daftest thing is the zip without a pull tag. Whoever thought that one up? I too agree that the beads should be contained in a liner and taking heed of the previous review where the aunt accidentally released the beads I have tied a stitch of thread across the opening behind the tagless pull to prevent the zip being used! I've also cut off the huge, ugly and pointless warning label that flaps around unattractively at the bottom. All in all, a good idea but it needs improvement to justify the price.

Brylliant !
I bought it for myself and I loved it from the moment I have opened the box ;) It was beautifully packed, I felt like I have received a present. The fabric looks much nicer and elegant in real, I have blue. And the book seat is so so light. The function of the book seat is just as it is described, it really allows to read books in any possition. I like to read lying in bed and it really made it so much more comfy when I don't have to hold the book. The see through plastic that holds the book in front allows you to read the page to the end. Shortly after I bought it I had accidentaly broken the plastic part, and the seller replaced the part very quick and the communication with the seller was great.Great book seat!

Best Gadget of 2010
This is what avid readers, typists, computer users etc. have all been waiting for. A fabulous idea, well thought out and very stylish. Can be used anywhere and so easily. I bought one for my mother-in-law who absolutely loves it; she reads a lot in bed and finds it difficult to hold a book as she suffers with arthritis. My son who works with computers finds it really useful to prop up a book so that he's free to use the keyboard, and only has to glance over at the book instead of having to keep looking down and struggling to keep the page open. I can't wait to use one on holiday whilst I'm lying on my sunbed as because of its shape and whats its made of it can mould to any surface. Only snag is the price, but overall well worth it.

Ok but expensive for what it is.
Works fine with small books, ereaders or small tablets. But no good for big books. Use it with my Kobo glo which fits fine and it makes reading whilst eating or cooking easy. Would be a very good present for anyone who is disabled or has problems with their hands if they also have an ereader or small tablet such as an ipad mini.
