Slide Razor Blade Sharpener, Cleans & Sharpens Blades, Black

I was made aware of the RazorPit by a recommendation made in The Simple Dollar daily email blog. The writer of the blog is not known for mentioning or recommending products he doesn't use himself and hasn't found to be durable, long-lasting, effective and of good quality. So, when the blog writer wrote that he used the RazorPit and it had greatly extended the life of his razor blade use, I decided to investigate. I had just recently switched my razor blade of choice to Harry's from Gilette, having grown weary of the ridiculous prices Gilette charges. Even though Harry's blades were much, much cheaper (and even superior in function, in my opinion) to Gilette, I was still interested in extending their life as well if I could by using a product like the RazorPit.So, I read all the customer reviews online as well as checking out RazorPit's product website. After doing my due diligence I decided to purchase their latest model (The Slide) with an improved silicone formula which is supposedly a slight improvement over their original model. The new model is a little more expensive than the original, but I figured it was probably worth the extra cost overall if it worked as well as all the reviews indicated.When the product arrived the instructions advised for best results start with a new or almost new blade. It just so happened that the Harry's cartridge razor bade I had on my razor at that time was going on 4 weeks of use. I shave about 4 to 5 times a week on average and by the time the RazorPit was ordered and arrived that almost 4 week old Harry's cartridge razor blade was beginning to start to pull a little and be a little irritating to my skin - in other words...it was time to change it out for a new one.But, I didn't change it out for a new one. Instead, I unpacked the RazorPit, read the instructions and cleaned (sharpened) that 4 week old blade and shaved with it. I was moderately impressed with that first shave with my 4 week old razor blade after that first cleaning with the RazorPit. The razor blade did not pull, nor irritate. As the RazorPit instructions direct, I cleaned the razor blade right after that first shave before putting it away.Today, two days after that first shave using that 4 week old razor blade and after two cleanings with the RazorPit, I shaved for the second time after receiving the RazorPit. However, today, the performance of the razor blade was quite remarkable. It was almost like I was shaving with a brand new razor blade. There was no hint of pulling or irritation of any kind. I was truly impressed by this experience and must attribute it to the effect the cleaning by the RazorPit has had on that 4 week old blade.So, I am completely impressed with the RazorPit at this point. I will continue to use this same blade to see how long I can go before it no longer responds to the RazorPit cleaning. I will update my review in the future if there is anything significant to report.

I believe that the others that have written reviews, very informative reviews, is the reason that Amazon is so successful thus it's customers are thus successful. This was discovered when I was looking for razors and stumbled across "Shave Secret" which has turned out to be the best thing for those that must shave on a regular basis. Using shave secret and this Razor Blade Sharpener has proven to not only give one the best shave but also save them a bunch of money. Having sensitive skin and if missing a day of shaving, then I start with my Panasonic Electric Wet or Dry, then go to a regular Gillette to finish and get a super close shave. NOT anymore. With this little gadget giving you in essence a new blade each day and Shave Secret rather than shaving crème, then shaving time has been reduced by 2/3. I thank those who have written the prior reviews and would like to add that after shaving I still use Nivea Post Shave Balm. The Nivea seems to interact with the Shave Secret and if any thing was missed, then it now becomes apparent for a final touchup. I take my old shaving crème I no longer use, wet the Razorpit, with a drop of the shaving crème, slide the razor across it five times per instructions, and there it is, an almost new blade for next time. This actually works fairly well. I was surprised at how well it worked. It won't bring old used up blades back to life unfortunately. The best way to use this product is to start with a new blade. Shave like normal the first time and then before each shave after that I run the razor against this 40-50 times. It will clean up the edge of the blades in your razor and keep it fairly sharp. I've gone from replacing razor refills every two weeks to about every 8 to 10 weeks.I'm sure some people can make their blade last a year with this like I've seen some claim but I prefer a really sharp blade. This product keeps them sharp longer than anything else I've tried. It's like using a leather strop on a straight razor. It doesn't sharpen the blades it just hones the edge and cleans it of corrosion. How long it extends the life of the blade will depend on each individual. How coarse your facial hair is, how often you shave, and how you want your shave to feel.Since disposables and refills can never be sharpened the only thing we can do is to try and keep the blades clean and sharp as long as possible. This really helps keep a good edge on the blades.
