Awesome fan, especially at this price.
I recently purchased this fan as a replacement for our old bathroom fan that had died a little while ago. The fan that we replaced I can only assume was the original one from this house and it sounded like the end of the world when you turned it on. I mean I could hear that fan running from my garage... a detached garage. When I was searching for a replacement I knew I wanted one that was quiet but had good flow. After looking at lots of different models I saw all kinds of Sones ratings but I had no idea what that equated to in real world decibel numbers. I eventually narrowed it down between this one and the other Delta fan Delta Electronics VFB050B3A1 BreezSlim 50 CFM Exhaust Fan, White, 1 Sone that is rated at 1 Sone and 50 CFM. I decided to go ahead and take the gamble that additional 20 CFM would be worth the additional sound. All I can say is I definitely feel like I made the smart choice. The airflow from this fan is fantastic I have no idea what the old fan flowed but if I had to guess compared to this one maybe 30 CFM at 47 Sones. When the new fan is running if you are in the room you can hear it but it's not loud by any means. If you are hallway outside the room with the door shut you hear nothing.Installation of the fan for me was not exactly simple since I was replacing a very old builders grade unit but overall it was still very straight forward. Still this is no fault of the fan and more just the joy of working on an old house. If asked I would have absolutely no problem recommending this fan to anyone in the market for one.

Great Low Profile Fan
I recently had my roof replaced and while doing so, I decided that I should also install an exhaust fan in my upstairs bathroom since I was having a lot of moisture problems. The problem I faced was that my house is a Cape Code style home with very little room to work with in the attic. We're talking a crawl space with about 2.5 feet of vertical clearance to work with and only about 5 feet horizontally before the roof meets the ceiling.I looked long and hard for a fan that would be small enough and powerful enough to fit in my ceiling. I looked no further than this fan. Having only a 4 inch height and being a 70 CFM fan, this one was a perfect fit. The device is super easy to install. Simply line the device up with the center-most joist and screw it in. While my particular job wasn't easy, this fan made it as simple as it could be.After having the fan installed for a few days, I've noticed immediate relief. The fan does an excellent job of sucking air outside and I've had virtually no moisture problems since using it. Not only that, but this fan is extremely quiet considering its power rating.I would recommend this fan for anyone who wants a quiet, gentle fan that needs to fit in a small space in an existing home.

70 cfm fan Delta
After comparing various fans, this one offered a reasonable SONE rating at a lower price. The install was not too bad, but did require some time in the attic. The opening size was slightly smaller on one side than the original fan that was installed in my house. This was corrected by gluing a piece of drywall to the joist to cover the gap. The cover is large enough to cover up this type gap. The performance of this fan is great, you can barely here it running (likely due to the squirrel cage fan design vs. standard loud fan blade). It has a green light on it that lets you know it's on.Seems to be a well worth it purchase to replace a 4 SONE fan and reduce the noise level by 75%+.

Three Stooges product design
The Really Good: The fan itself is really nice, smooth and quiet. The superior brushless design is the same as their industry-leading pc cooling fans. The Bad: No suspension arms! One side has two opposing small flanges to secure to one joist. But you need to secure the opposite side at a minimum to keep it from falling through the ceiling hole, so you have to MacGyver your own frame. And, get this -- you have to remove the fan before you install the housing case to your makeshift frame. Folks, you should never have to build your own frame or remove the fan first to install it. Absolutely absurd brainfart engineering.Another flaw is the design of the exhaust nozzle -- there's not enough clearance where the nozzle base attaches to the housing wall to allow for 1/2" drywall thickness. This causes the unit to tilt up in the rear. So you have to cut a notch in the ceiling hole around the nozzle area to allow the entire unit to rest flush against the ceiling from the attic. Plus, the nozzle has no locking mechanism to keep it from sliding out of its attaching slot, so I had to duct tape it. Big duh.Their instruction sheet requires magnification to read it. And there's no additional spec sheet or other nice marketing documentation on Amazon or with the package I received. And I could not find anything on their corporate website dedicated to supporting their bath fans. It's not even mentioned under their product lines!Bottom line: Delta Electronics, an industry wholesaler-manufacturer, apparently got into the bath fan biz as an afterthought. They certainly don't know how to retail. For these reasons, I would recommend that buyers consider other brands.
