Classic Backgammon Set - 16 inches Medium Backgammon Board | Walnut

I have a Crisloid and Yenguin board as well. The Yenguin is a piece of trash and will eventually end up there. This Helena board compares well with the Crisloid, although it's obviously very different. I've yet to play at a club, but I can gather that wood boards are frowned upon. After getting this, I'd probably still give it a try. I enjoy the authentic feel of the wooden board. Fine, the large Crisloid checkers are similar to what you see on YouTube, but this reasonably sized wooden set is how this game has been played for thousands of years, and you appreciate that as you play.Just to be clear, the board I got came with multiple sets of dice, a great doubling cube, wooden checkers to spare, a bag for all that, and then a bag for the board. I thought I was going to have to buy a doubling cube and maybe upgrade the dice, but I love the smaller Turkish dice. There's a reason they don't use dice cubes, the smaller dice bounce so easily that the cubes are unnecessary. Plus, they're not as noisy as larger dice (looking at you club players).Most of all, I can't wait to break this out for my wife's grandfather. He's from Turkey, and we've been playing on that Crisloid board for the last year. I know he's going to see this and think: This is how it's done. He's in his 90s though, so I may have to upgrade the dice after all though.In sum, this is a great wooden backammon/tavla board. If you want a traditional tavla board on Amazon, I haven't seen anything comparable. It was deliver quickly and packaged to arrive unscathed. Order and enjoy!
