AWESOME SOUND
I've been using this portable CD player for several months now and couldn't be happier. The sound is absolutely amazing for such a small machine. Battery life is typical for this type of product. Use it while walking and it doesn't skip, and plays well on public transportation. The only thing that could have been better are the earphones. They hurt my ears so I used another pair that I had.Found the AC adapter the instruction say to use on Amazon and it works great. But it cost more that the CD player did.

My grandson LOVES this!
This was my teen grandson's BIG gift for his birthday - he loves music & we wanted to get him a cd player/am/fm radio. After reading all the reviews, we realized there aren't that many out there that seem to work well. This one seemed to have the best reviews of them all, at least for playing music, so we went with it. Thanks for the reviews about the best adapter (seems most agree it can be purchased at Radio Shack); that will come in handy. Also how to install the batteries, about the headphones & checking to see if the player is set on radio, if it does not seem to work. Everyone's comments really helped. We purchased a set of Pink Floyd headphones for daytime use & a set of JVC HAEB75VB Sports Clip Headphones for night time use, as the grandson loves to listen to music at night. Also some extra amazon AA batteries & a Tune Belt Deluxe CD Player Holder, so he can wear it around his waist when he's at school, as theft is an issue there. He was able to put the Pink Floyd Headphones in their case & hang them from the CD belt; also his cell phone/charger fits in the belt pockets, along with several cds & bus fare. (When you have a teen, all of this can be a concern.) Also we are hoping if he keeps the player in the belt, it won't have liquid/food spilled on it or it won't get dropped/broken.Something else I noticed about the cd buttons, although they are very tiny, they have symbols encoded into them, so the visually impaired may be able to more easily operate this, although with the buttons being so tiny, it could possibly be an issue. My grandson has huge fingers, yet he has no problems. I did notice he left the player on for the entire first day & night because he could not figure out how to turn it off at first & the directions weren't so easy for him to understand. Also many reviewers seemed to have issues with battery replacement, but he had no problems figuring it out.Added Later:I just purchased a second one of these for myself - and a few days later, returned to purchase a third one, when I realized the company had increased the price by $20! What a ripoff - I doubt I would have purchased the second one for what they are charging now!

Pretty good
Delivered within 2 days. I've used it about 5 times, so far, usually while riding a bicycle, and it works as advertised. Appears to be well made and solid. Has good range and adjustment subtlety on volume. Buttons are small and poorly marked; over time I expect to get accustomed to that. I like the earphones very much - they stay in place even while moving around.Update, 4 months later:It's still going strong and I like it a lot. I mostly use it while riding my bicycle. Sound quality and reliability are good. It restarts on the CD at the position when I last turned it off, even if I take the CD out and then put it back in!The main drawback is its size - it's definitely big and bulky, not like an MP3 player. But I have a carry-belt that it fits into, so I can make that work. To me the size tradeoff is worthwhile because I listen to "The Great Courses" so I can go through a lot of CD's in a short time, and it's easier managing the CD's directly, rather than ripping each CD and then transferring the files into a phone/MP3 player. The buttons aren't great - small and hard to read what each one does. When riding my bike in intermittent traffic I'm always wanting to increase and decrease the volume as necessary and it's a pain to take the thing out and tweak the volume while riding my bike. So, I have started on putting the volume pretty high and then taking the ear buds out of my ears but letting them hang right next to the ears; this effectively lowers the volume going in my ears. When the ambient traffic noise gets loud again, I just push the ear buds back into my ears. This is much easier than pressing the volume buttons.By the way, I really like having the radio (FM and AM!) and CD player all in one. You can program presets in the radio.I've used it around 2 hours per week and had to change the batteries after about 3-4 months (qty 2 AA batteries). One tricky thing is that I think it's possible to leave the radio on when you put it down and you wouldn't know it, so you could drain the battery in just a few days.

Truly skip free
I am so pleased with this CD player. I have another that I could never move around with even though, it too, was "skip free." Another feature so improved from my other player, battery life. This player really plays a long time on batteries. My other player I went through so many batteries. Yes, this is a good Sony product. Speaks highly of the quality Sony is know for and I hope they continue. I use this at work, on the bus going to and from work. Really perks up my day. Thank you Sony for a great product. I was so happy Amazon had a dealer that made this available. Also, the Amazon guarantee makes it worth buying. I have had good luck so far.

Timely delivery works great
This was a gift for my wife who is a bit of a technophobe. Her discman died last year and she resisited getting an ipod. I got this discman for our anniversary and she's been loving it since. She says it works great

Ganz ok
