Stadler Formfan Otto, made of bamboo, with 8 speeds, ideal in summer and suitable for the bedroom, living room and office, easy to clean, 50 watts

Some have complained about this fan making noise. Perhaps they got bad fans; I don't know. But I'm extremely picky about sound in my house and this fan passes for my ears. The sound that the motor produces at its maximum setting is a tone at about 250Hz at roughly 10 decibels. (To give you a scale, my ambient room volume is ~40dB. With the fan usually at the low setting it's ~45dB. Highest setting, it's ~50dB. With my dog barking it's ~100dB) Or, in simple terms, it makes the kind of noises you'd expect from a fan. I easily forget that it's on. I'm not sure what folks are complaining about.Update: I've owned this fan for 6 years now and it's still working fine. It's one of my favorite things so I take care of it. Get the dust out once or twice a year with the vacuum, air compressor, or canned air. That seems to keep it happy. I vaguely remember other reviews saying it didn't last long and came back to say all fans left to get dusty will fail. You have to clean them to make them last.

We loved out Otto Fan. The design fits a modern/Scandinavian vibe perfectly. So when ours was on the outs after 4+ years of daily use, Stadler Form was the only company we considered as most other competitive products just don't have the chutzpah. Purchased our replacement Otto Aug 2024 and unfortunately the fan makes the most unusual popping/clicking when on Medium/High speeds. It's a shame their QC doesn't match their design as this same thing happened with our old one. As of now this is nothing more than a glorified paper weight. If considering the purchase, I'd highly recommend running the fan on high for a few days straight out of the box and make note of any odd sounds, etc. prior to Amazons return policy.

I really like this, even given the high price point. It is perfect for under a desk and nothing feels cheap. The flow knob is on the back and integrated into the motor housing so cleanly you don't even know its there at first.

I took a chance and I bought this as a used item for about $130 despite all the bad reviews. I knew there was a high probability that I was going to receive a fan someone else had returned because it didn't work properly, as many reviews indicated. However, out of box, this fan is in perfect working condition, well balanced, and a work of art to look at it. I removed one star because there isn't a huge difference between the three settings, and it would be even more amazing if the front feet were adjustable so that the fan angle could be changed. However, overall, it's beautiful, functional, and the quality is great. I bought this for my basement laundry room to help dry the air-dryed clothes a little faster, but I can't wait to buy one for the main living area of my home, as well.
