Comfortable Out of the Box
UPDATE: Wanted Khaki as second pair and SO HAPPY that the color received was consistent with the small thumbnail image. The larger image had black (which was OK, but not exactly what I wanted). Posting picture to see what was received when ordering Khaki. These too are excellent…right out of the box.I’ve been looking to replace an older pair of Merrill shoes with Vibram soles and finally found it. Lightweight, great room in the toe area and super comfortable. They are advertised as water shoes but great for daily walking use. Great support and stability. Color is great (black with light aqua trim). The laces could be a little longer (I like to double tie my laces to avoid tripping on an untied shoe) but after wearing them for a few days, they haven’t come untied at all as the laces have decent grip and hold. Ordered another pair in a different color. Highly recommend.

Great crossover between a sneaker and low profile trail shoe - perfect!
I love this style, not overbuilt! Comfortable the moment I put them on. I'm taking them to the UK where I'll be walking on pavement and trails so this is the perfect blend of shoe for both.Based on reviews, I ordered half a size up, and they fit perfectly, I'm normally an 8 but got the 8.5.The color is a light grey which will work with everything I wear.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Merrell always win for me
I absolutely LOVE these shoes. I've had a few different styles of Merrell shoes that I have always loved... these are just as comfy, breathable, lightweight, wide toeboxed and they didn't take any time to "break in" as I wore them directly to work and had no issues. My ONLY possible issue, is that it's uncomfortable for me to wear without socks, as I hate socks. This is due to the stitching inside near my toes that catches my short toenails when I walk. This is a bummer for me as a person who wears their other Merrells sockless with no similar issues. Purple is my favorite color, so extra props for that!Worth buying and trying.

So far very comfortable and lightweight!
I’ve only given a 4 star so far because I just got them yesterday. I did wear them all day yesterday and so far I’m impressed. Very comfortable and lightweight. I only wore them out for daily activities, no hiking yet. My feet get cold and they were perfect during the 50 degree weather during the day, but when it cooled down to the 30’s my feet got cold in them. They are not really for cold weather (which I knew). I bought my normal size and they fit well. I can wear thin socks with them. I’ll provide an update in a month or so after I’ve gotten more use out of them. Oh and I got the blue - love the color of them.

Fantastic Shoes!!!
I earn my keep by being in the outdoors most of the time, and I "hike" rivers like other people hike mountains - not on the banks, but by going straight up the middle. This means that my shoes are in the water for hours/miles at a time, and are subjected to a constant barrage of mud, rocks, sticks, and other debris. In the month of July, I literally destroyed three new pairs of what one would call the classic "water shoes" - the little slip-on things with mesh uppers and rubber soles. This is not new - I have gone through countless pairs. I was logged in on Amazon, doing a search for yet another pair this week when this pair of Merrell's popped up in the suggestions. I just about fell out of the chair when I saw the price, but after a quick calculation, I realized I was spending at least this much in disposable water shoes over the course of every summer, so I gave it some serious consideration. My feet are fairly wide, and as a result, I normally shy away from women's shoes and buy boys instead. However, I noticed that one of the other reviewers mentioned that these had a pretty wide toe box, so I decided to take the chance and order them.My UPS guy delivered them as I was loading my kayak on the truck yesterday evening - couldn't have been better timing - I was headed up river a few miles, taking the kayak along to tow my stuff, and I was prepared to go barefoot, which works, but sometimes results in a bruise or two. I pulled them out of the box and was impressed with the design - sturdy, but lightweight. I then put them on and was equally impressed wit the arch support (I have high arches - it felt really nice). Then I walked across the floor, and much to my delight, I could feel the air moving through the mesh, cooling my feet. So far so good - it was time to head to the river.Upon entering the water, the shoes (of course) immediately filled with water, but very little sand/gravel. As I made my way up river, I was amazed - a lot of the rocks are slick with moss and sediment, but I didn't slip. And not a single "OUCH!" as I made my way through fast water where I couldn't see the bottom - normally this means coming down hard on a rock at least once, and although I'm sure I did, I never felt the first twinge of discomfort. Slogging through sandy areas resulted in a small amount of sediment in the shoes, but not enough to be uncomfortable.Upon my return back down river, I took the shoes off to rinse them out. That was easy - they didn't capture and hold on to sand/gravel like the other ones did that I had been wearing. I also noticed that they float - an added bonus should one get away from me. I inspected them carefully for signs of destruction - normally after only one trip, the cheaper ones will show cracking on the bottom and at least a few tears/loose threads. Nothing was wrong with these - nada. I put them back on and climbed the muddy hill to the truck - they had great traction there, as well. All in all, I am EXTREMELY pleased with this purchase. The shoes not only perform exactly as I needed them to in the water, but they are actually REALLY comfortable. We still have a fair amount of summer left here in Virginia, and I will be putting them through their paces for quite a while longer. I will update my review toward the end of the season.I paid full price for these shoes and did NOT get them at reduced cost or for free in return for a review. :)

Suggestion: Order a whole size larger. Remedy for SHORT laces.
I like the shoes...But. The arch support hits in the correct place. I like the way the soles feel sturdy yet flexible. The mesh is lightweight, very breathable for summer, and for walking in water. I ordered a half size larger than my normal size (7.5) based on reviews, but the 8 still wasn't large enough. I returned this pair, and ordered an 8.5. Hopefully, my toes won't rub on the shoe in the next pair. As other reviews state, the shoe laces are so short that you can't tie them in a bow. I think that a square knot will be ok. But really, Merrell should use longer shoe laces.UPDATED to 5 stars on 6/10/25. I bought this: Merrell Women's All Out Blaze Aero Sport Hiking Water Shoe,Black/Aventurine. The laces that came with the shoes were so short I could only tie them in a knot, not a bow. I contacted Merrell directly. They are reimbursing me with a check for the extra pair of laces I bought on Amazon, which are 50". I think 48" laces would be OK, too. The shoes came with 41" laces. I am so happy that Merrell chose to reimburse me because it shows their integrity. I've worn Merrell shoes for years. Thank you, Merrell, for your good customer service.
