Ghost Hunting for Beginners: Everything You Need to Know to Get Started (Llewellyn's For Beginners Book 31)

I bought this hoping it might be useful for lending to new investigators. It exceeded my expectations. It's a clear, coherent and well thought out book, beautifully edited (too many books in this field are just not adequately proofread etc) and with good information and ideas. Despite being aimed at beginners, it has plenty for more experienced investigators too (I have been given some new ideas by it) and it avoids the lunatic fringe stuff, like calling everything a demon and sensibly dismisses orbs. It covers all aspects of paranormal investigation and anyone following the advice in it will not go far wrong.The effort that has gone into this book makes it a worthwhile acquisition for anyone who's interested in the paranormal field. Rich Newman knows what he is talking about and has a way of making it clear without ever sounding condescending.

Very informative. Although wrien for a US market, the information here is informative and well written

habe das buch interessiert verschlungen, da dort viele vorgehensweisen beschrieben werden plus die sachen, die zum debunken wichtig sind. sehr schade, daß es noch keine deutsche übersetzung gibt (habe es in mühevoller kleinarbeit selbst gemacht) und auch wenig bilder enthalten sind (das wäre auch noch toll gewesen, was ist eine echte erscheinung und was ist ein film / hörfehler - ok, letzteres ist in einem buch schwer möglich, aber der mann hat eine gh truppe und da wären hörbeispiele durch links nais gewesen). viele programme, die man hier benutzen soll (ok, sind auch nur empfehlungen etc.) sind tw sehr alt (ein hinweis wäre auch nett, daß man zb auf der website "neuere erforschte tools" gelistet bekommt.wissenschaftlich... ok, das ist auch so eine sache, zweifler kann man damit nicht überzeugen und jünger werden es sowieso fressen, da parawissenschaften eh keine "echten" wissenschaften sind. aber ich will hier auch keine diskussion vom zaun brechen. was man mit den infos anfängt, bleibt jedem selbst überlassen, das buch bietet nur anreize, es selbst so auszuprobieren, daß möglichst keine fehlerquellen falschinfos erzeugen.
