Absolutely! The vertical shaft slides up and down by pushing in a spring loaded bearing. I'm 5'10" and I use the seat about half way up. This is a great tool...I have three of them...one a work, one at home, and one at my shop.

Q: anyone use the chest support? does it really help and is it worth the extra money or just stick with the creeper itself?

I just wanted the the kneeling creeper and it does take pressure off my knees but would be nice to lock wheels some times. I love it.

Q: Is there a difference between the chepaper Racatac available on amazon? If so please elaborate.

You didn't indicate the name of the cheaper one but I found "RACATAC 01RAC3 Kneeling Sitting Creeper".The racatac web site basically indicates that the wheel size is the difference. 01RAC3 has 3" wheels

You use the seat while kneeling down in the knee pads. Vic
