Neato Side Brush for Botvac Robot Vacuums, 2-Pack

My only question was what is the difference between the $3 2-pack brushes sold by "shanon" (there were two other sellers that were shipping out of foreign countries, but this one was domestic) vs the $15 2-pack brushes sold by "direct". I believe most of the negative reviews you see on here were consumers that were purchasing at the cheaper price points.So I purchased from both sellers wanting to know the difference and to share the results with all of you. The "shanon" purchase just arrived today, while the "direct" purchase arrived much sooner due to the 2-day Prime shipping.I intimately examined all 4 brushes to see what the difference was, and compared to my like-new Neato Botvac Connected's side brush. Here's what I found:- both seller's brushes were in new condition- "direct"'s brushes had a plastic cover on the top of the side brush itself to keep it from getting scratched, while the other seller's did not.- "direct"'s brushes came in a small box that said it was genuine, while the other seller's did not.- "direct"'s brush tops were EXACTLY the same as my genuine Neato Botvac Connected's side brush, while the other seller's brush tops were SLIGHTLY different in shape. Based on what I can see, this shouldn't make a difference in performance, but it is nonetheless a difference.- "direct"'s brushes were identical to the real ones, while if you really look at the bottom of the other seller's brush, you could tell a different manufacturing machine created these. BUT, performance-wise, it fit the same as the real ones.- "direct"'s brush bristles were more "together" than the other seller's brush bristles which were more spread apart instead of compact. This would be the biggest negative, but the positive is the huge price difference.CONCLUSION:After purchasing from both sellers, if I ever needed more, I would save myself the $12 and go with the $3 domestic seller next time. If money is no object to you and if the compactness of the brush bristles is a major factor to you, then go with the $15 "direct" brushes so you get the genuine part. Personally, I love genuine, but I also love George Washington. And 12 George Washingtons is better than a genuine part in this case because both parts perform the same function, but the generic part is of slightly lower quality.WISH LIST:I hope "direct" can lower it's price to around $5 to compete with the $3 generic part seller. I would be willing to pay $2 more for a genuine part, but for a $12 difference, it's a bit nuts. That's 10 generic side brushes vs 2 genuine side brushes and they both perform the same! but the genuine ones are slightly prettier at first when unused!

THE FIRST CLEANING, HAD TO EMPTY FILTER ONCE, BUT NOT SINCE, BUT IT IS ALMOST FULL EACH TIME. RUN IT ONCE A WEEK AT LEAST AND SOMETIMES TWICE. ALSO AMAZING IS ITS STRAIGHT LINE CLEANING, 90% OF THE SPACE, AND ESPECIALLY ON CARPET, WHERE IT REALLY SHOWS AND LOOKS SO GOOD. SO! DOESN'T GET LOST HARDLY ANY, ONCE IN 2 MONTHS, AUTO RECHARGE, RETURNS TO CONTINUE CLEANING, QUIET, INDOOR DOG DOESN'T EVEN BARK AT, AS DOES WITH A BROOM, MOP, UPRIGHT VACUUM CLEANER, DYSON! DID ORDER THESE EXTRA SIDE BRUSHED, FILTERS, AND EXTRA MAGNETIC STRIP TO BLOCK OFF ROOMS I DON'T WANT TO CLEAN SO MUCH, LIKE DINING ROOM RUG NOT WANTING TO WEAR!? ONLY USED EXTRA FILTER TO SIMPLIFY CLEANING, JUST DUMP AND INSERT CLEAN FILTER. THERE ARE TWO UNDESIRABLES, AS NOTER IN OTHER REVIEWS, THE LCD MONITOR DISPLAY NEEDS TO BE LARGER SO OLD FOLKS CAN SEE BETTER, A REMOTE PROGRAMMER WOULD BE NEAT, AND THE FILTER CLEANING NEEDS A BRUSH TO BRUSH OFF THE LINT, ETC., REASON FOR REPLACEMENT FILTER SO I CAN CLEAN IT GOOD LATER AND POP IN A NEW/CLEAN ONE WHILE CLEANING. HAD IT BOUT 2 MONTHS, SO FAR GREAT, MAY BLOW UP TOMORROW, BUT APPEARS WELL MADE, STURDY, FOR A ROBOT, AND THAT'S THE STORY ABOUT A QUESTIONABLE PURCHASE!!!

I have a Neato D6 which comes with the Spiral Combo Brush (SKU 945-0305) that the manufacturer describes as "Best for picking up pet hair."This is NOT that brush! Nope, it isn't. Even though THIS brush is a spiral and THAT brush is far, far less of a spiral, THAT one is called the "Spiral Combo Brush" and take it from me, if you have pets that shed, you want THAT brush NOT this one!This is the Combo Brush (SKU 945-0198) that the manufacturer describes as "Great for picking up pet hair."You see what Neato did there? The difference between "Great" and "Best!" One is great but the other is better than great, because it's the BEST.Bad news! You can't buy THAT brush, the Spiral Combo Brush, that is best for picking up pet hair on Amazon. You have to get it directly from Neato.How do I know all this? I bought this brush, foolishly thinking that "Great" was something I wanted and would be happy with.This brush fit my D6 perfectly and had a pronounced spiral of alternating rows of brushes and plastic"flippers."The first time out with this new brush, my D6 consumed a catnip mouse that was hiding under a chair. I had to remove the brush to extricate the mouse. This not so unusual encounter had broken off a large piece of plastic flipper and the new brush wasn't even an hour old.I've used this brush for months now and most of the flippers are gone. Some to mice, but others just gave out and got sucked into the dust bin.Not only do the flippers not last long, but the brush, which is best for deep pile carpets, is quite difficult to clean and it needs to be cleaned quite often. All sorts of dusty things and human hair gets embedded in the bristles and require frequent digging out with the comb cleaner.I eventually switched back to the old but original brush that came with the D6. At least, even though it was somewhat worn, it was still intact. It is better picking up pet hair, and it is easier and faster to clean.And isn't that the point of these Vacuum bots?

Needed replacements for my friendly Botvac. These are the real deal, but they drop a star because they are expensive.

There was only one small brush with a combo brush. In the picture you showing two pcs.

They are a little bit expensive, and there are cheaper "knockoff" versions out there which I haven't tried. I figure they seem to last around 3 months so it's not really worth cheaping out on it even though I would be surprised if there is any real difference. They work just like the original ones because they are the same. Up to you if the cost difference is worth it for being sure they aren't going to be garbage.

Works perfectly, the same as the one I already had on the vacuum. I wanted 2 more because we have dogs and the dog fur really wraps around them sometimes requiring us to yank it out, sometimes it disfigures a bristle or two.

There are more bristles, angled downwards, and the magnet "sticks" better to the Neato, compared to the non-genuine brushes we tried previously.
