This was offered by amazon wherehouse, the only laptop I found with a DVD player, all good so far

Laptop purchased as an a ready replacement for current HP business machine. Appears good and solid with albeit slightly less smoothness of ease as current working machine.First impressions are it is very fast and has more than enough hard drive space for purpose, but could do with a bit more memory (This can be up-graded) Feels a bit of a monster size wise, but this is the fist 17.3 machine we have purchased. This version is not backlit (which is not a problem) however there are no lights to indicate the machine is on or off.As the current machine is still in use, it has not been been fully put through its paces, so another review likely when used for a few months

After just 3 months, and despite numerous messages and lengthy phone calls, and a £900.00 investment in a DELL Laptop - I find myself with a useless and unusable bit of kit! The hard drive is slipping and it continually and randomly just 'shuts down'. DELL say that because its over 30 days old, they won't replace it - instead, I spend hours with them on the phone stripping the laptop back to factory settings and reinstalling - only to find that you can still hear the hard drive slipping and it still repeatedly just shuts down - I can't work with it! I have a screen shot proving that the problem is with the hard drive - I have sent this to Dell but still they won't replace it! I have paid for an IT technician to look at it - he says the hard drive is slipping - you can actually HEAR it as it shuts down. SO - avoid, you may be okay and your laptop may work okay - but if after 30 days it doesn't - you may as well have thrown your nearly £900.00 down the drain.

Difficult to setup for me. No easy startup guide.

I’m going nuts trying to return this to you. I’ve changed my password twice and back at original.Would it help if I asked my bank to get a refurb?

The product information says "no optical drive". The photos show what looks like a flap where the optical drive would be. I cannot buy equipment without an accurate and full description. Unfortunately, this happens frequently on Amazon. Everything from dvds to laptops and personal computers have mistakes in their descriptions. If you buy the product expecting the description to be correct, you are likely to have the incovenience of having to return the item. Pity really.
