Making her way across the New Mexico desert to the sleepy town of Chile Verde, showgirl Rosie Valez (Divine) is rescued from certain doom by outlaw Abel Wood (Tab Hunter). After reaching their destination, a chance encounter with local madam Marguerita Ventura (Lainie Kazan) provides all three with an unexpected map to a legendary cache of gold. Paul Bartel's outrageous sagebrush spoof also stars Cesar Romero, Woody Strode, Henry Silva, Geoffrey Lewis.

Not great cinem but a lot of fun
No one is going to say the movie will make the top 100 movies (or even the top 10,000), but it is still a lot of fun. Very much in the John Waters style, even using some of his regulars.

Classic DVD
This was a mint condition DVD rescued from oblivion. The vendor has an astounding library and nearly instant shipping and delivery. A John Waters classic that I bought many years ago and lost when it was loaned it to a friend and forgot who had it.

A hilarious over the top campy good time.
This is my 'I don't feel good' movie. It is just so cute and funny. Puts me in a great silly mood. Plus Divine, god rest her soul, is amazing in this movie. She is just a campy, funny and expressive like she is when she was doing the John Waters movies Polyester, Female Trouble, and Pink Flamingos. Plus, Tab Hunter stars in this as well and for any John Waters fans you'll still love this non John Waters Divine movie. Plus Tab hunter co-stars in List in the Dust with Divine, and they of course worked together in 1981's Polyester. Great onscreen chemistry together these two have, and Tab Hunter is silver screen royalty so he gives a great performance. 5 stars for me. I wish amazon had all the Divine movies in their digital video library. But, I'll lay in waiting until they do. Thanks everyone.

Satire of Westerns featuring Divine
Lust In The Dust is a satire of the Western genre featuring Divine. It makes fun of outlaws, saloons, prostitutes, etc. I have to say there were few parts that I actually laughed but there were more that were humorous that made me smile. It’s always great to see Divine. I would have never guessed that she would go mainstream but she did and that should be applauded.

Fun B movie comedy if you like them
Not everyone loves it but I remember it cracking me up as a kid and it still does some as an adult, I guess it seemed more risque as a kid. I still find it funny when Divine breaks necks during passion.

Nice diversion for fans of Divine, Tab Hunter, and Lainie Kazan.
I recently watched a documentary about Divine, "I Am Divine", and then the Tab Hunter documentary on Netflix, "Tab Hunter Confidential." Both documentaries reference this filim, "Lust in the Dust," and I knew I had to watch it. Thankfully it is available for digital rental on Amazon Video. It's only available in SD, which was a little off putting as I'm spoiled and used to watching HD only, but the quality wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. It's much better video quality than the preview Amazon has available. If you're hesitant about renting because of the SD format, don't let that stop you.As to the movie itself, it's ok. It's a spoof on Westerns but I only wanted to watch it to see Divine & Tab Hunter reunited on the screen. Lainie Kazan steals the show, and it was a delight to watch her in this film as she's clearly having a good time. Divine's performance is a bit subdued compared to what she usually delivers in John Waters films, but this may also be a result of splitting the screen time between the three stars. There are a couple moments that made me laugh but it's not a riot by any means. It's a solid B movie. It would have been nice to see the three leads get more screen time and less time devoted to the minor characters.

Divine's Best
Of all the movies that the late Divine made, this one is my favourite. Although John Waters had nothing to do with this one [Tab Hunter was mainly responsible] it plays as well as Waters' Polyester [DVD ] which also features Tab Hunter, so maybe Tab picked up a few hints:) The script is basically a good old fashioned Cowboy Movie of the Clint Eastwood sort [basically this is a re-write of Clint's spaghetti westerns], with not as many twists as you might expect... maybe a bit more 'adult' humour than a John Wayne movie. Divine is in great form, and clearly having a ball playing the distraught heroine, Hunter is the Eastwood clone, and a very sultry job he makes of it too. The rest of the cast are clearly in on the joke, and all seem to be having a ball in the desert. As a movie, it plays well, gallops along and plenty of gags. As a Divine vehicle, it was his last movie, and to me it was his best of the mainstream movies Polyester, Hairspray [DVD ] although I doubt if Divine would ever have been accepted fully as a mainstream artist. Then again, that's why his fans love him, because he was outside of all that [although he wanted to be accepted, and to be taken 'seriously as an actor'] Anyway, this is a great old romp, Divine's 'singing' in the movie is worth the admission alone:) Polyester [DVDHairspray [DVD

Finally a Blu-ray
I love John Waters films, especially the ones with Dive. This is my second favorite after Hairspray. After waiting years, it's finally on Blu-ray. One of Waters & Divine's better films!!!

Absolutely divine
This is the spaghetti western Clint Eastwood never made as shot for shot it sends up the great man's genre. Divine is divine as the saloon girl in search of the gold as is Tab Hunter as the man with no name. It is very funny, very crude - wait till you find out how the piano player dies, ending up stuffed inside his instrument - and worth every penny. This is not great cinema, and certainly not art, but it is entertainment which is what everyone set out to provide.

Great film at a great price
I haven't actually watched this myself, as it was a present, but the person I bought it for loves it and has already watched it three times! Divine only made a hand full of films and they usually go for outrageous prices, I was pleased to find this one at a reasonable cost, also as a nice bonus the cover is reversible, in my opinion the artwork on the reverse featuring the original theatrical poster is far superior plus there's a small booklet of facts and photos also included.
