nice tight cap for vitamix blender. works great!

It was risky buying this lid and plug set without the listing showing any dimensions but it paid off. The lid seals as good as the original lid (maybe better) and the clear plastic plug fits the old lid too. As I stated in the review headline, the part of the lid that fits inside the container has an outside diameter of 13cm. The blender container has a 13cm inside diameter opening at the top. So they are a match! Hope this helps.

I made a shake in my old Vitamix 5000 that’s still going strong & heard some loud nasty noises going on while blending. What the heck? Well, I stopped the machine & it turned out the top round plastic piece that pops in & out of the cover so you can use the tamper through the rubber top was at the bottom of the canister while I was blending…Oooooopsie! ! I had stored that piece in the canister & forgot to take it out. The vitamix ground down the whole top of that piece until it was flat lol. Didn’t crack though :) and I used it like that for a long time. Saw this replacement & bought it because everyone said it was easier to get this style rubber top off the canister, which it does for sure. The bottom of my old tamper was a little chewed up too somehow over the years, so it worked out well & I’m happy they sell the replacement. Vitamix is great.

This was a good replacement for the old original lid on our Vitamix.

I was asked by Amazon to review this lid. So...lets get to it.It is round and fits into the space occupied by the top of my Vitamix container, which is definitely a plus.The lid and plug are made of sturdy materials. I tested this by trying to force my hand past the lid and plug while the Vitamix blades were spinning (half-speed only...I'm not an idiot). After several attempts, I was unable to successfully get my fingers past the cap and lid.The cap and lid also confirm to all known laws of physics (structure of matter, density, molecular cohesion, etc.)...also a plus. (I once bought a knock-off lid from an unknown dealer...somebody named Schrodinger if I remember right. What sucked is the fact that Schrodingers Vitamix lid existed in multiple quantum states. This is not the kind of Vitamix lid you want when you are making soup).Anyhow...its a good lid.

What I received may not be a genuine Vitamix lid- there's no "Vitamix" printed on it like what you see in the product listing photos. The clear plug does not have measurements like a genuine one does (and as the listing description also states).It also has slightly different geometry than a genuine Vitamix lid I compared it to- visibly shorter side latches, for one.Otherwise it seems to be quality made. I suppose it could be an updated/newer version of the lid by Vitamix, but the product listing and photos on Amazon do not reflect that.

I have an old vitamix that's almost 20 years old now 3 years old now and of course vitamix never die still works as great as the day I bought it but the the rubber seals wear out and fail overtime including the lid so I had to replace the lid and this one fits perfect just like the original
