Police Squad: The Complete Series

Speaking of humor, there are not better than Leslie Nielsen - Forget Animal House.... This is so much better backing and is much funnier! I love watching his acting here and in the Airplane Movie Series... This guy has an act for comedy.. You will enjoy if you like Humor!

The first attempt at what would become the Naked Gun series, this brief series (only 6 episodes) highlights some of the best deadpan humor the Zucker brothers have made. You can tell it was a bit awkward and clunky as a first tv series but still has some of the funniest schtick ever. This series came a couple of years after they made the movie Airplane. It's not as cohesive or well-written as Airplane and the Naked Gun movies, but if you are a comedy buff, it's a must have even if just as a collector's item.

Looks and sounds great for a really old show. Sad it only lasted six episodes, but it continued with the Naked Gun films. Crossing my fingers the Liam Neeson movie is good.

Arrived quickly and in good condition. Police Squad is among the funniest shows ever produced.

When I want a good laugh this is one of my favorites. Every time I watch it I catch a me gag that I missed before. Wished they made more episodes.

Mine was a former library copy. You can also get this in a box set with the three movies for a reasonable price.I already owned all three, so I got this to complete the collection. The Zucker-Abrams-Zucker team were always a fun part of my childhood from Airplane to Top Secret. This series had a short life on TV, but has lived on as a cult hit with fans of midwestern style comedy, which can have a mix of absurdity & dry delivery that sneaks up and tickles your funny bone.It played on so many cliches & tropes from the popular police dramas of the day. I can't wait to sit down & watch this with friends & family when we need a good laugh.

"Police Squad" is a television comedy classic starring the incomparable Leslie Nielsen and featuring the absurdist humor of Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker, creators of "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" films. With countless jokes and sight gags in every episode, you really have to pay attention to catch them all.This Blu-Ray contains the entire six episode run of the series, which, I think, was just the right amount, because even with just six half-hour episodes, it was obvious the creators were in danger of running out of ideas, and I honestly don't know how they could have kept it up for an entire 24 episode run of a typical television series.Picture and sound quality are exceptional. It appears the high definition transfers were taken directly from the original 35mm film masters, and the image is sharp and clear with minimal grain removal and excellent contrast and color reproduction. There are two audio tracks, the original mono mix used for broadcast, and a new multichannel mix. I watched with the latter and found the dialog was clear and intelligible with a good balance between music and sound effects.
