I loved the story about faith and total dependence on God. Everything in His time. Wonderful book that gives us hope in dark and troubled times.

I have it to encourage, and was encouraged myself!
I stumbled across this book...and can only believe that THE Stumbling Stone led me to it. I found it when a dear friend was struggling with a husband with a brain tumor. I offered her the book because as much add I'd like to encourage, I've never had a husband with a brain tumor. I figured this book could speak in ways I couldn't... and so I offered it as a gift. My friend quickly wore back saying, " Thank you! I'm loving the book. Her point of view is exactly how I feel....it's interesting to hear someone explain what I can't put into words to others when they ask how I'm doing."Three months later, as her husband condition worsened, I wrote this friend again, asking if she thought the book would help me understand how she's feeling. She said she thought it would be great for that... so I bought the book for myself...The book is well written, conversational, but not cliche. It shares an honest story, not shined up for public consumption or approval. Laura shares honestly, humbly, not in a way that draws pity, but understanding. I found myself beginning to consider my own life and re-frame my past based on the Truth that God loves me and has a good plan for my life. Sometimes times are tough, but it is those very things that God can use to bless me, to reveal to me (and the world) His glory. This book is helping me to re-formulate my thinking, my reactions. I am learning to accept difficulties and ask, "how can this bring Him glory?" rather than, "how can I escape this situation?"The book is faithfully rooted in Scripture, revealing how God is continuing his story of redemption in Laura and Martin's lives. For the first time ever, I considered how even Paul had to learn how to accept his difficulties...I have two more people in mind to whom I want to give this book. Sharing this book with them is like adding to the Holy Spirit's groaning on their behalf. Where I long to encourage and speak into their lives, but have no words, I ask the Father to use this word, and His word to reveal himself

What an honest and beautiful story of growing faith
My husband and I lived in Roswell a few years back and were members of Perimeter Church. We were aware of Laura’s story vaguely, While we have been blessed by her worship leadership and our favorite songs on CD and now Apple Music, hearing her ‘inside’ story has been such an inspiration for me. I work with women who’ve been and are going through challenging seasons as a result of relationship challenges, I am thrilled to be able to refer this book to them to encourage them in their seasons of life when “God doesn’t fix it”! Thank you, Laura! Continued blessings on you and your family and all you do for Him!

I literally want to get this book into the hands of EVERY person that I love.
I sat down to read and read almost cover to cover in one sitting. It was that good.I will admit up front, I think everything Laura Story does is "so cool", and read the book mostly because she wrote it. I wanted the subject matter, but I would read a cereal box if Laura had a quote on it. ;-)But this isn't just me with my "hero worship" glasses I am tempted to wear. This book is REALLY good! And, I think a big reason is because we ALL have brokenness. We all have things we wish God would "just fix". We all have things that would be easier to not share or be vulnerable about. And Laura is really honest and open about that. She shares her personal story in a really raw, open, honest, and sometimes hilarious way. ;-) but interwoven throughout her story is universal truth. Not platitude. Not "Christianese", but for real for everyone truth. Almost every chapter ends with a Myth vs. Truth. And almost every single myth she lists is a lie that my heart so wants to tell me is true. Myths like (this is me paraphrasing cause she says it better) "When everything is healed then I can be used by God", "He is punishing me and that's why everything is broken.", "when everything is healed then I can be happy"- and she combats them truths like "God can use my story in the redemption of the nations", "He isn't punishing me, He loves me, and in His love and mercy He is going to use my story to bring hope to other hurting people." "Joy is deeper than just when it "feels better"" I could go on and on, but don't want to just regurgitate what she said - I want people to read it for themselves and hear His love and power and grace just washing over them.I can think of something in every person that I loves life and story that needs healing and repair and redemption. And I think everyone would hear His voice saying "I love you - here is my hope to you" through her words.

Wonderful book
This book is well written and the author laid open her innermost thoughts and feelings with extreme vulnerability. Her experience allowing God to lead in such extreme circumstances is so inspiring.

A Great Read. Highly recommended! Check out the song Blessings too.
I wanted to give a shout out to Laura Story. Her song "Blessings" touched me during some very low months while going through chemotherapy. Her latest book "When God Doesn't Fix It" is touching and full of hope and truth. In it she writes: "[In the Bible] Paul didn't call us to suffering. In fact Paul called on God to remove his suffering. But what Paul knew, and what Martin [my husband] and I have learned, is that God is more than present in suffering. He is sufficient...While our broken circumstances may not change, we can. We do this by clinging to Scripture, discovering who God truly is, being willing to share our story even in the trials, and looking for blessings in our brokenness...I am so thankful God has not called me to a tidy, well-put-together life for the glory of Laura. Instead, He has called me to this messy, unmanageable, and totally dependent on Him life for the glory of God." Listen to her story behind the song and consider this book for your summer reading.

Wow!
Wow! What an amazing book and inspirational author written from the heart. Just what I needed to read during this season of my life. God spoke to me so much though these words. I already have three friends I’ve promised to loan it to. Would have bought them copies but the book is currently now out of stock. I bought mine just in time. Thank you for your openness and vulnerability Laura .

Beautifully written...
This book is beautifully written. She is so real, and raw in how she tells her story. It's an encouragement to anyone who is struggling with unanswered prayer and disappointment in life. It's deep and rich in truth. I've high-lighted so many sections. I highly recommend this book.

I'm deeply touched by this book and amazed how the author has described the emotional turmoil so simply, honestly but powerfully inspite of her brokenness, in the midst of deep doubts, shattered dreams & hopes and helplessness. She recognises the presence & power of God during her struggles and her total dependence on Him. From Laura's deep Biblical insights I'm learning to find intimacy with Jesus and not to believe the misguided lies and to recognise the presence of sin in my nature so that I may live a life full of joy & love inspite of trials & struggles. This book is really a Blessing from God. God bless the author Laura Story and the publication team.

Is God not delivering what you think He should? Read this book....
I have concluded that much of what is supposedly promised when we become a Christian is simply not true. I'm not alone. So many feel let down by God, or feel rejected as if they are doing something wrong when the Christian 'formula' does'nt work. Working through our problems and being real about them is what Laura Story has learned. This book will help many to come to terms with a loving God who allows pain and problems into our lives because - He sees a bigger picture than we do and wants the very very very best for us.
