It is always difficult when it comes to buying a mattress, as it takes weeks to find out if it is suitable or not. Admittedly, most companies offer long trial periods with a promise of a hassle free return, but I can assure you that these things are often far from hassle free!I had been looking for a mattress for months and even came up with a spreadsheet of all of the pros and cons of the main players (thickness, layers, removable cover, firmness etc. etc). None of this really helped as the only true test is to buy one and sleep on it.I have to admit that it was an afterthought to look on Amazon and only did so really to see what the prices were for the 'known' names of mattresses. I was then surprised to find that Amazon have their own Alkove brand at a ridiculously low price compared to the others!When comparing them to the big names, I was surprised that it was thicker than most, had more layers and even had a removable cover, all for less than £300! Admittedly, it only has a standard 30 day return, but for the price I didn't see it as much of a risk. Even better was that for only an extra £10, my old mattress would be taken away at the same time. This was 1/4 of the price when compared to other suppliers and they usually remove on a separate day, which is more inconvenient.As for the mattress itself, I can only state that I am blown away. The quality is superb, the comfort is amazing and I now understand and agree with previous reviews about it being firm but soft.I am heavily overweight and sleep on my side and front and have often woken up with pins and needles in my arms and sore shoulders. This has not happened since I've had this new mattress. That in itself is enough to indicate that I made the right decision, but when you consider the low price, it is unbelievable value for money!If you are still reading this and have been struggling to make a decision on which mattress to buy, look no further as the Alkove mattress is superb and there is little to lose when you consider the price.

So comfortable and supportive. I did have back ache with my old mattress but with this it's gone. I sleep so much better now. It just feels such good quality as well. Amazing price for such a good quality mattress. I did let it have it's full 72 hours to plump up, I think that's important. It is very thick and maybe a bit wider than usual size, it just fit snugly in my new bed frame. It is, however, incredibly heavy. It was me, a reluctant 10 year old and a dog and it really did take some work to move. At least we could collapse on it after. Really good buy, made up with it.

Firstly this thing is heavy. So if your on your own maneuvering this around is hard work.No need to use scissors the wrapping can be rolled off to unroll the mattress and you can pull apart the plastic wrapping once you gave git it where you want it.So no catapulting you or your cat/dog/child/other half across the room. Unless you want to. 😆Mattress took about 8 hours or so to full expand, I aired out the room at the same time and there was no chemical smell at that point.I'm a big fella and this mattress supports me brilliantly it's very comfortable and would say its up there with more expensive pocket sprung mattresses. As a previous reviewer stated a svelt person may find this mattress firmer.There are stock issues due to covid etc but this is worth getting once available.

Purchased over 2 months ago to replace our high end pocket sprung mattress with natural wool filling & the mattress for a fraction of the price out performs it & has improved our quality of sleep while also greatly reducing aches & pains. Took a little time to adjust to & would rate it medium-firm rather than medium having also retailed beds on several occassions. Would suggest its unlikey to be beaten on price as quality & value for money.

Very happy so far with this. It's very substantial compared to my previous silentnight foam monstrosity. Heavy though and no handholds. I'd say it's semi firm. Im heavy and have a bad neck, back and a bad knee. It's been great for pain relief. I'm sleeping better. Wish I hadn't left it so long before ditching the useless silentnight 7 zone one. Good value, seems to have the features of simba, Emma etc. but you aren't paying for the branding and marketing. No regrets purchase so far but only had it a month or so

Had this for 16months now. Really comfy and don’t find it hot at all. Main issue is it has dipped where my husband and I sleep. There’s no ‘roll together’ as with traditional mattresses but a definite dent where we sleep. No huge problem but the indented area is less comfy. Have turned it around now to see if we can dent the other end!!Warning - VERY HEAVY!!!

Like other alkove mattresses expanded in about 6 hours to a full soft top but firm matress. Sleeping better, easy to say but it manages to satisfy a side and a front sleeper at the same time. Can feel both layers of springs from the sides and are undetectable when laid on. Memory foam is a bit harder than an otty and similar with a Hyde hybrid matress.Well worth money and the rolled really does help moving it around.
