Thinking back to my time in the ER, just as I started my career I was involved in performing micro surgery and suturing in the ER and the first couple of times it was truly nerve-racking. Just knowing the right techniques is part of the challenge the other part is getting a hold of your nerves and maintaining a steady hand. I believe practicing on an education model would definitely benefit any student to get the suture hand movements and knots down.I’m a practicing physician and travel to medical world conferences, as well as like to stay up to date with latest medical education technologies and devices. I got this practice kit to see how useful it would be in preparing a student or resident to real life scenarios with patients. Have to say this is a great simulation model and kit for practice. It has all the basic instruments for suture and the silicone pad is of superior quality and really durable. The sutures held without the silicone pad tearing. I even tried creating my own wound patterns and sutured them as well. I wish we had such products available when I was a medical school student. I would definitely recommend Meditkits Practice Suture Kits.

- The skin tears too easily- The needle driver doesn’t grab the suture AT ALL- The forceps have no teeth- The metal is very cheap- The sutures only have a variety of thickness, not difference in needle size, so there are thin sutures with huge needlesI work in surgical derm and I wanted to get this to practice as I pursue this field, this is the worst practice kit I have ever purchased. Don’t waste your money on this one….If you’re looking for this to just have fun with? Also don’t waste your money.

i bought this for my college aged pre-med student - she loves it! i think she's secretly waiting for me to fall down and need stitches. a scary, yet money saving venture.next review - my day with the plastic surgeon, after succumbing to a "fall" and being a stitching guinea pig...

I liked the practice skin. Suture variety was good.The tool quality was hit or miss, needle holder, adson tweezers and suture scissors were good. Hemostatic forceps were uneven almost as if spare curved forceps were straighten with a hammer. The Scalpel blades included were the wrong size for the scalpel handle. The scalpel handle is a Number 4 and does not take #10 blades. If you plan to use the scalpel make sure to order spare #20 scalpel blades.Overall nice practice kit for the price. If you're interested in the tools, I would recommend purchasing those individually. The quality control seems poor on the tools.

I remember I used to be super nervous during my surgery rotation as a third year medical student because the resident/attending could always ask you to do simple sutures during their procedures and I used to struggle with my suturing techniques.And then I went into a specialty that should/would require little to no suturing and yet I have still been asked to suture during OB/gyn procedures and in my months in the ER from time to time. And it makes such a difference when you have practiced and memorized the skills without having to struggle step by step next to the attending! This kit was great, it gave me all types of incision patterns to practice on, the material of the suture pad was realistic to fascia and tissue you work with in the real cases, and the quantity of the material is more than you need which is fantastic for the price!!

Great Suture Kit!I really recommend this suture practice kit if you would like to master your techniques. The suture pad and tools quality are well designed, I tried doing the subcutaneous suture technique, when I pull the needle through the suture pad it didn't rip off like other pads I have used. I sutured the same cut several times and when I cut the stitches out, the pad appeared as if it was untouched. If you want the pad to be durable, just use it with good care. It has three layers, flesh, fat and skin, with different types of cuts, simulating skin lacerations, which you can practice different types of techniques. I really like the quality of the case which makes it easy to carry my tools and the pad. This kit has everything you need to practice suture skills. Highly Recommended!
