💧 Keep your soil thriving, your critters safe, and your garden ahead of the curve!
Soil Moist is a non-toxic, water-absorbing polymer with 1-2mm particles that can absorb up to 200 times its weight in water. Made in the USA, it ensures safe use around feeder insects and pets by preventing drowning, making it an essential hydration solution for professional and hobbyist gardeners alike.

Just right size. And they are white.
I like these. They are white and small so they absorb quickly. But not like powder. I use these to make cooling neck wraps so I appreciate them being white.

Works Just Like The More Expensive Brands
This is the gel that is places in soil to help keep the soil moist for plants in containers. This is also used in weddings for centerpieces in clear containers by adding food coloring to make the gel match the wedding colors. You get a LOT in this bag.It looks like little rice pellets and when placed in water, turns into something that looks like clear jello which keeps the soil moist for plants.I keep the bag in a coffee can once it is opened.I add about 1 tsp of the "rice" pellets to the soil in the bottom third of the container and then fill the rest of the container with regular soil. The first time that I used it, I let the crystals absorb the water so that I could figure out how much of the gel to use in the dirt because I tend to use too much when it just looks like tiny pieces of rice. :)These along with some inverted wine or beer bottles of water really helps in the Texas summer heat to keep plants looking good without having to water all of the time and for less than the name brands.

Works great for hot climates with major positives
I'm an avid gardener in zone 10. Over 3 years, this has proven to be a miracle. Recommend that you use a large bucket to pour in some crystals (start small, like 1 tablespoon or ¼ cup) in the bottom, and then water about half the bucket & stir. Wait for nearly an hour, but stir off and on while waiting. NEVER use dry crystals in the garden or in pots- wet & allow them to enlarge fully first. Now that I know how much they expand (60x original size??), I keep a record of proportions of crystals to water. Also: I add cow manure + mycorrhizae + some other soil improvements like potassium that can dissolve into the water & be absorbed into the crystals as they enlarge. Then in every hole, I mix in some enlarged crystals with the soil below the plant, and after positioning the plant, mix soil for side of plant with enlarged crystals. BUT never allow the crystals to be in the top 2" of soil (will readily dry out + harm roots that have grown within these crystals). Several positives: parasitic nematodes HATE this stuff, so they stay away from the roots of plants that have it mixed into the soil. Another: for sandy soils that can't hold irrigation/rain water or nutrients, this stuff HOLDS NUTRIENTS as well as water, so you can help protect aquifers as well as save money. Caution, it's a polymer so I don't use it with edibles. (Others do). It's a cost-effective miracle for the hot garden. Addition April 2024: seems the newest bag of crystals do not grow nearly as large as last year’s (& prior years). That means that each bag produces less value & more must be bought for same usage. So shrink-flation yet again. The new bag is not as beneficial or economical… and more soaking must be done. 60x original size no longer valid

Works great & cheaper than Miracle Gro Moisture Crystals.
Works exactly like the Miracle Gro bags you can purchase, yet a lot cheaper. I saved the bag from the Miracle Gro moisture crystals, so I know how much to use per size pot or square feet of garden space. This did not come with instructions. I simply mix in with my bottom third of potting mix in my pots to be planted, then add more mix & plant. Reduces watering by half at least! Crystals swell up with water, & when used toward bottom third of pots, roots will grow deep. Crystals supply the water the roots need.Lessons I've learned from previous years...* Does not work after plants have been planted & you want to stick some in a pencil hole to supply moisture. Crystals swell up & out of hole, & out of pot. Looks like clear gelatin.*Does not work when mixed in top third of mix. Same reason. When excessive rainfall occurs, it will surface. Defeating the purpose.*Does not work when transplanting cells of seedlings into garden, separately infusing a little into the holes. Product swells up & pushes seedling plugs up out of holes.

The best price point for amount
The amount of water crystals in this package for the price is excellent. Especially compared to other products that only come in 8-ounce packages and cost $8 or more I have found I have been able to reduce my watering of my container pots By Hand by embedding this into my containers. It is best to use this when you first plant the plants but if you already got them in containers just use your fingers and remove a few inches of soil in bed these crystals sparingly around and then cover with some mulch to retain the moisture. Beware of how much you use. My neighbor had some Boston Ferns hanging from his front porch and I suggested him adding please Water Crystals when he was repotting . And unfortunately he did not understand how little you really need and he finished put them back on the hangers added water... What and the house and then heard a huge lump... when he went outside to investigate the Water Crystals he had put in and a way to larger quantity have expanded with the water and pushed the firm completely out of the basket on the front porch

it grows
at first, these look like salt rocks. I put about a third of these in a pail the day we started a 3 days straight rain fall. Man did these grown. The pail was filled with them. My teenager thought it was snow. lol. I mixed this stuff with the soil, moss and coconut fibers I also had just bought. The idea of this stuff is that it keeps the plants watered as they dehydrate back into little rocks and they hydrate when we water the plants so plants don't get over watered and saves on the water bill (hopefully) but truthfully, we just like how they grow. Haven't tried them with the plants yet since I'm just starting the garden

Good
Using for the garden and potted plants in our desert to save water. And also to make cooling neck ties. Works good for both a little tiny bit goes a long long way. About a 1/4 tablespoon dry is about 1/2 cup wet maybe more but it soaked up all the water and didn't add any more to find out. Cheaper by a little bit to buy the bigger 8lbs pail from some of the other guys but I cant imagine that I will use the whole 3 pound in the next few years even.
