Terrific Value
EDIT: It appears the T450 can recognize up to 32GB(!) RAM. I have not tested this, and I'm satisfied with my current configuration, but I might take advantage of this down the road! The Thinkpad T450 is a terrific value in many ways. The primary disadvantage compared to the 2016 T460 is a 28% less powerful CPU for the same TDP. This is more acceptable to me than the $360 premium for the latest model at the time of posting this review. My main focus in upgrading from my previous laptop was finding a lighter computer with longer battery life that could take some abuse on the road for weeks or months at a time. The T450 fulfills 98% of my expectations after satisfactorily overcoming the shortcomings below. I put my last laptop through hell, so the durability of the Thinkpad T-series laptops is reassuring.Battery life is phenomenal. I have been getting 7-8 hours per charge on the stock battery, using 30% screen brightness. When I first received the machine, I charged the battery to full capacity, downloaded and installed all my business software, synced necessary folders from my cloud storage, and mirrored the file structure of my desktop with multiple drives using hardlinks on an SD card. After about 5 hours of use at about 60% screen brightness, there were still several hours of battery life showing. I confirmed by watching three 40-min episodes on Netflix which still left me with about an hour of battery to spare. I will be ordering the 72wh battery and expect to get legitimate day-long on a single charge.EDIT: I purchased the Lenovo 0C52862 Thinkpad Battery 68+ (6 Cell) Compatible With L450, L460, T440s, T440, T450, T450s, T460, T460P, T550, T560, P50S , W550s , X240, X250, X260 Model's to replace the stock rear battery and after just over 3 hours of work I'm showing 75% battery left (estimated at over 13 hours). I had the screen brightness set to 30%, Wi-Fi on and connected to a VPN, and I was using my main business software with three programs in the background including MS Word 2016. After wrapping up, I synced several gigabytes up to online storage. The battery tilts the rear of the machine up, which helps it keep cool. The added bulk/weight is negligible, and it's incredible that I could get through two full workdays on a single charge. The CPU launches Microsoft Office products with no noticeable lag. The primary software I use for my business is resource heavy and takes several seconds to load, but runs smoothly after that. I have set up a 3GB RAM disk dedicated to temp files, file extraction, caching, etc. I don't expect to ever touch more than 8GB of the remaining 13GB of memory.Upgrades are more involved than what I'm used to. Detaching the base cover is frustratingly delicate work even with proper pry tools.I replaced the HDD with a 512GB SSD and upgraded RAM to 16GB, booting to the BIOS only to disable the internal battery first. This laptop ships with a single 8GB RAM chip installed.Installation of Windows 10 Pro from a USB media installer was fairly painless and activated automatically. Touchpad functionality was limited on first boot but automatically restored after Windows updates were performed. I needed to install the Lenovo System Interface Foundation to enable use of the media buttons between F4 to F12The Fn key is in the most unfortunate position of the lower left corner. As a touch typist and keyboard shortcut fanatic, I kept hitting this key instead of the Ctrl key over and over. Immediately I remapped the caps lock to Ctrl, shift to caps lock, and Ctrl to shift. This probably would have been a deal breaker. Thankfully, I came across info explaining that the Fn and Ctrl keys could be swapped in the BIOS options within 36 hours of having the machine. The other keyboard issue I found is that the arrow keys are offset lower than the bottom row of keys, with PgUp/PgDn placed above the tiny left and right arrows. Again, frustrating for keyboard shortcuts when touch typing. I ended up mapping PgUp/PgDn to left/right arrows so that it didn't matter if I hit left arrow or page up (see photo). While I was at it, I remapped Home/End/Delete to be more accessible. Who needs the right Alt/Ctrl keys anyway? Now that I've had a few days to settle into regular usage with the T450 and get past the learning curve of the Thinkpad, I am very satisfied with this purchase. I'm very much looking forward to my next working holiday abroad.EDIT: It turns that I use the right Alt/Ctrl keys after all! Still prefer my keys remapped as shown in the photo, but now I have right Shift mapped to Alt so I can use the left/right arrows for navigating back/forward in the browser. Having to use two hands for Shift+Delete or Ctrl+Home/End is a reasonable compromise.

Completely worth it.
very solid computer, a champ on battery life, speakers were suprisingly loud and decent quality. Not a brand new laptop, they had opened it an upgraded the ram, but it was completely new otherwise.Still windows 7. You might hate or love that.FYI the old thinkpads seemed sturdier than this. I was trying to find a lenovo with an alloy frame/chassis, and this seems mostly plastic. Seems more durable than the dells from the same year though.

... T450 with Windows 7 on 12/8/2015 based on the great reviews from Amazon
Purchased this Lenovo T450 with Windows 7 on 12/8/2015 based on the great reviews from Amazon. I have only had this computer for 4 months. It has many problems such as it loses the wifi signal constantly and it upgraded to Windows 10 automatically which it did not complete and had to reinstall Windows 7. Therefore, I lost all of my new data since 12/8/2015!!! The next big problem is, 4 days after the reinstall of Windows 7, I got a BLUE SCREEN of DEATH for this brand new computer!!!! Do not purchase this computer!!

Amazing keyboard, better than my Macbook
Amazing machine, faster than my new 2015 Macbook. The screen isnt as bright as the Macbook thou, so I would recommend this machine for a business customer. Also the keyboard is amazing, probably the best keyboard I have ever typed on.

Great product. Only drawback is it game with windows ...
Had it for a month or so. Great product. Only drawback is it game with windows 7 and when I upgraded to window 10 seemed like it took hours. Really has worked flawlessly for me. I would recommend and would have no problem buying another one.

great deal for a sleak and nice looking ThinkPad -much wow such ThinkPad!
great laptop!one can consider as a low budget rough ultra bookthe specs are definitely from a thinkpad laptop and the design and body tend to be more sleek as for a regular ThinkPadOpt for a SSD for upgrades, consider that one cannot expand the RAM.

She made it a good 5 years
This computer finally gave up the ghost after 5 solid working years. I've dropped it, put lots of different softwares on it and the only indication I had that she was about to go was slower processing speeds.Only thing I didn't like about this computer was the lack of number keypad and the lack of a discussion drive. But that's on me for not looking closely at the important details.
