Portable small mirror
It works well and is very sturdy. It is flat and about the width of a cell phone but not as tall so it will easily fit in your pocket. A fellow nurse advised I get a “camping mirror” for showing my patients how to care for their ostomy. I needed a sturdy plastic mirror and this was the closest product that came up in my search results (it looked exactly like hers). Unfortunately, I forgot to check the dimensions first and it is way too small for my needs. I was able to find what I needed by searching for a “teaching mirror”. I just hope it will be as durable as this one!

Amazingly light, so big!
Best travel mirror on market. It is very clear, VERY big for a purse mirror, and more light weight than any other purse mirror out there. One problem: I bought my first one of these maybe 5 years ago. I put it in my purse makeup pouch. The makeup pencils and sticks rub up on it, and it gets cloudy and unusable. So then I began keeping the mirror in a tiny zip loc bag. It STILL got clouded up. So I ordered a new mirror , this order, and I am going to try keeping it in a harder plastic packaging. I had old plastic from a small umbrella, so I am trying that. But don't let this problem deter you. The mirror is so cheap, you can afford to keep replacing it if necessary. Also, maybe my new packaging will work. My message to the manufacturer is, they should provide a stiff, clear pouch for it, themselves.

Weightless / Reflective
. REASONS WHY I WENT WITH COGHLANS: The mirror is "good enough." And it's the lightest. Though it loses merit regarding its reflectivity, it gains it in its weight. (heavy items get left behind, this one is light enough to carry anywhere) Protected in the middle of a book, I carry it everywhere in my pack. So far so good.. only for personal hygiene use, not for emergencies or Morse code communication. (it's not glass but close) I am scrupulous to keep weights down, and debate the likelihood of use (emergency and otherwise) Generally I limit activities/locations with the potential need to flash a plane/boat for help. However, I am prepared with 95% reflectivity of glass. (which is 100% more reflectivity than 'not' carrying a mirror altogether) PROBLEMS WITH OTHER MIRRORS: *The Pro-Star models like (Ultimate Survival Technologies StarFlash Signal Mirror) still had some poor reviews making it 'not' as effective as stated. *The Stainless models seemed to be the most durable, but in time 'not' the most reflective. (Its weight also a problem) *The Glass ones/Military ones seemed Best and most reflective and best for emergency use, and yet can break and are heavy. In all my travels, the downright need for a real glass mirror, or need for the durability of stainless instead of the Coghlan's 8501 plastic mirror hasn't come up..

Slight touch up and it's fine, consider painting the back surface.
Owned this for 9 or 10 months, over time the coated back surface will get scratched unless you protect it. In my case I painted it with a textured wrinkle finish black spray paint. It took all of 2 minutes to paint and is saving the back face from being scared. Scratching the back surface removes the reflective properties so it should be protected. Either that or you can use contact paper instead of painting it. Heck for the price plus a touch of spray paint it's fine. Pocket sized and no worries about dropping it and it's very light weight so it perfect for travel, camping, a second hand held lavatory mirror or simply driving the neighbors cat nuts (hahaha) it's worth it. Perfect for Morse Code between groups hiking on a hillside or simply signaling. For being acrylic plastic I was surprised to see it reflect nearly as good as glass.

Perfect shower shaving mirror!
Combine this product with a 3/4-inch mini suction cup hook for the perfect shower shave mirror. If you shave in the shower, you know how hard it is to find a good mirror. Look no further, this is the solution you've been waiting for! It's minimalist, unobtrusive, easy to clean, and won't break. When hung from a mini suction cup hook, airflow behind the mirror keeps the surface warm which inhibits condensation/fogging. Even one-handed, it required zero effort to take it off the hook, rinse it under the water, and re-hang it. You can spend $40 on a fancy mirror with high-tech coatings, hooks and shelves for your shaving products, and wi-fi connectivity to automatically re-order your razor blades, but I guarantee that you won't get a better shave than you will with this $4 product. Buy one for home and one for travel. You won't regret it!

Almost weightless and disappears into a toiletry or emergency kit
Mirrors are an underrated item for camping and backpacking. Sure, you can use your phone for some tasks, but you will never get the proper angle or clarity staring at the selfie camera compared to a mirror. Got something in your teeth, need to check something on your face, signal for rescue, look for a tick in your nether regions? This has you covered. I keep it in my boo-boo kit in my hiking daypack. It adds structure to a tiny stuff sack and adds minimal weight.

Incorrect dimensions listed
Under the product dimensions it lists the item is 6.85 inches long by 4 inches wide in actuality if you look further down in the description area, it’s 2.75 inches wide and 4.25 inches long. Very deceptive I was expecting the 6.85 x 4“ mirror and I got a smaller one.

For my bugout bag
I bought this for my bugout bag to use as a signal mirror, or just to check out my nose hairs I guess. It looks to be durable and strong and has a clear surface. High quality product.
