Received in proper packaging and good condition. It's good to be able to find books online when you are unable to find that one particular book at nearest bookstores.

Pages are see through
The book is gorgeous, but unfortunately the pages are very thin, you can clearly see the text on the page behind.

Some mistranslation
The short stories are great but there are some mistranslation and grammatical mistakes. Such as capitalization for names and some specific words in Russian

Nice Anthology of Chekhov's Short Stories
While looking for a nice English translation of Chekhov's short stories, I located this edition because even though I am fluent in Russian, I wanted an English translation. The translator is Constance Garnett, who was one of the most famous British translators of Russian classics. Her translations are clear and adhere fairly closely to the original Russian. I do not understand the idiotic reviews of this book. Do these people actually read books? It appears to be no longer published by Penguin Classics, but by Fingerprint, an Indian publishing company, so the paper quality and print is adequate but does not compare to the soft cover Penguin editions nor hardcover editions. Still, it makes a nice edition to anyone's library, assuming one can still appreciate Chekhov's amazing short stories without comparing them to TV series and such which I have seen other books reviewers write or such things as 'tedious' or 'couldn't finish'. That is a sad statement on the level of reading and lack of sophistication in this culture.
