OMG Incredibly accurate cascade of sound but ALSO makes your throttle "momentum" type.
I've been modeling N scale for 20 years and had an older sound systems for my analog layout which is extensive but WOW this sound system is truly and completely UNDERSTATED for what it's capable of. Seriously I'd love to run a great ad campaign for this system to do it justice. Not only are the digitally accurate multiple sounds awesome for both diesel & steam and actually makes my simple throttles on my 2nd brand new layout under construction at our second home we use for summer in the Arizona mountains run as "momentum" throttles (THEY SHOULD ADVERTISE THIS ADDED FEATURE WHICH IS TERRIFIC). You have to go full throttle to start on the diesel and then back off as the generators wind up & she picks up speed. When you apply breaks as you throttle down use the dynamic break and "ride" it until nearly stopped. You actually have to "DRIVE" the trains and not just stop and go. My throttles on my original layout which I use all winter in our primary home in the Phoenix area are all momentum so I already loved that feature. I just can't say enough good things about this KATO analog sound box and it's also DCC compatible.

Don't buy from 3 party ,resealed from Amazon warehouse
Great price but connecting snaps broken and no sound card, My question is does anyone really check these?Not Katos falt

The sound box goes into restart sequence when the diesel locomotive air horn is sounded. It does not restart every time but it continues to get worse every time I run my layout. Kato is known for producing high quality equipment and my situation could very well be a one off situation and need not be a concern but I plan to get with the company and see what resolution I get and I will definitely let anyone know how it goes.

Since it's a Kato product, made in Japan, you know it's the best quality available.
It was easy to adapt to my Kato track.
