This is a wonderful product for anyone venturing into long open water swims
This is a wonderful product for anyone venturing into long open water swims. You can not feel it when swimming freestyle, and if it produces any drag I have never noticed it. It adds a great deal of safety for visibility by boaters. It is a reassuring float should you get an unexpected cramp. And when I swim a mile across the lake at my camp in Maine, my wife knows exactly where I am when watching from the deck. I swam for years without one and always felt a little exposed out there. Sort of like riding a bike without a helmet. I hesitated initially to using one for solo swims but then tried it for the first time last year. I won't swim open water now without it, unless I am racing of course.

A great safety feature
I bought this swim buoy for my daughter who tells me she is delighted with the buoy and it does the job that it’s supposed to do.

I could be seen from a great distance as judged by people waving at me from ...
Took this out yesterday for a 2 mile swim in a harbor with lots of small boat traffic. I could be seen from a great distance as judged by people waving at me from boats. I would not quite say that I do not know it's there, it produces a very small tugging sensation as you swim, but it does not interfere with my stroke and is definitely very reassuring for ensuring visibility and providing something to hang on if you get cramps (as I do from time to time). Equally important for me is the ability to bring stuff with me. I stashed a pair of running shoes, energy gels and some electronic equipment in a ziploc bag and all seemed to work well. You need to be able to land somewhere to access your stuff, trying to take it out in the water would probably be a very bad idea. However, being able to swim point to point and have my shoes with me at either end, or stop off at a beach to refuel (and check my glucose levels, I have type 1 diabetes), opens up a lot of new possibilities. I found that when walking around the deflated bag could be effectively folded up and clipped to the side of the belt and was unobtrusive...the next step, which I haven't yet tested, will be to try to running with it, I've got some swim-run adventures in mind! To summarize my thoughts, this gives me the confidence to be able to do swims I would not otherwise attempt and I highly recommend it to any open water swimmer.

Very happy with this buoy
Very happy with this buoy. I am a triathlete and purchased this because I do some solo open water swims in a nearby lake. This will give me some extra visibility, as well as a "security blanket" if I need a rest in the middle of a lap. Fits very well on my waist. You don't even know it's there. In fact, I kept reaching back to make sure it was still there! It floats just behind your thighs when adjusted correctly and doesn't hinder you in the slightest. Great design and functionality ("dry" pouch for keys, phone, etc.) Shipped on time. Would definitely recommend for anyone who swims open water as a practice aid, either for visibility or just that extra boost of confidence in the water!

Well designed and constructed
I received my 20 liter New Wave Swim Buoy today. Delivery was quick and as promised. I took it on a half mile swim in the Tennessee River. I discovered that by resting my arm on the tether it rides on my side exactly where it should be. When I turned around I rotated the belt so that I could rest my other arm on the tether. This way I keep the buoy on the traffic side as I paralleled the shoreline. A half mile swim with oversized fins is hardly Olympic but I'm 74 so it's far enough. I can recommend this buoy. The materials are good. The design is well thought out. I dig it. My picture makes it look yellow but it's actually orange orange and highly visible.

Not two compartments as described. Only one inflatable dry sack.
I love my original New Wave Swim Buoy but I wanted a place for a key. I ordered this one because the description said there were separate compartments for the float and the dry sack. However when I received it there was only one big compartment. I was disappointed and returned it. Instead I have taped on an watertight compartment to my original airtight single compartment New Wave Swim Buoy.

Best invention on earth!
Best invention on earth! Thank you!! So simple but so useful. Now I'm not afraid to swim any distance. If I take my kids to swim with me across the lake (12 and 18) and they get lazy along the way, they can just hug my orange bubble and relax while I keep swimming. The only cons is they get lazy and swim half a lake and float the other. :)

I love how you can put valuables in it so they are always with you. It’s big and bright, so with the greater visibility, I feel safer swimming in the open water. I bought this years ago, and it still works great.

I do a lot of sea swimming and as the water temperature cools down, I am more likely to get cramp or cold wrists and hand joints. This gives me the reassurance that I can stop swimming, rest and recover with the buoy keeping me afloat in deep water. As well as valuables you don't want to leave behind on the beach, you can also store a spare PAYG mobile in a waterproof case inside the bag section for emergencies. I'm talking about a simple and small rubberised Nokia or something, which everyone seems to have lying in a drawer somewhere at home, and won't cause too much upset if it ends up soaking wet or at the bottom of the ocean if you drop it. The fluorescent orange is also a safety feature if anyone has to come and find youi. Towing the buoy behind you when swimming is a breeze, and you never notice it being there. Unless of course you carry a lot of items in inside the bag, then you probably would notice the extra weight.

Brilliant. Will be recommending to friends! Good size for valuables, I still put my phone and car key in a waterproof case inside the tow float but you'd be daft if you didn't! Big enough to rest on if you need a break. Really glad I went for this one. Use it for swimming and paddleboarding dry bag! Looking forward to doing a night swim and putting a torch in it!

I bought the Orange and the colour is highly visible in a lake setting. Very well made, and you can use it to hold onto if you need a rest (or even use it for exercising legs). Highly recommended!
