Cherrybrook Kitchen Chocolate Cake Mix, Peanut Free!, 19.5-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

What can I say except that this cake mix is delicious and a lifesaver. My son is allergic to dairy, nut and egg so he cannot eat the typical cake and has to sit out at cake time at birthday parties. I searched for a substitute for him and for his own parties and came up with some good concoctions but nothing really tasted "normal" enough for all the kids to enjoy. This, however, is outrageously delicious and makes great cake and cupcakes and I haven't had a single kid notice the difference. I do notice the difference, however, between this and a store made cake and this beats any typical store cake. It uses belgian chocolate, which I think compensates for the lack of egg or dairy. It comes out dense and rich, almost a hybrid of a cake and brownie and we love it and use it for all special occasions.Also, a few tips... I like lowfat stuff and have started substituting applesauce for the bulk of the oil. I cook it a little longer to firm it up but it comes out awesome. Also, the odd thing is that a number of Pillsbury frostings do not have egg or dairy in them. Although full of chemicals and a contradiction to the pureness of this mix, I have used them and think it gives the cupcakes/cake a more familiar taste to other kids so this doesn't taste like an allergy friendly mix. I personally love it without any frosting, still warm, served with either soy ice cream or lowfat frozen yogurt. It's great and truly has been a lifesaver in that it's brought normalcy to special events that had previously been very challenging in terms of figuring out what to serve that my son could eat. We always receive compliments on this cake.

This chocolate cake is heavenly! I was introduced to Kitchen baking mixes by my friend who is on a strict diet, and fell in love with their products immediately. Both my kids have allergies, so we can't have nuts, eggs, and dairy. I used to buy the gluten-free version of this one, which is also really tasty, but this one is even better. Not too sweet, yet very chocolatey (there are chocolate chips in it too!), fluffy, and simply delicious. It's so good it almost doesn't need any frosting. :-) Really really love this one, and hope they never change the recipe, or, God forbid, discontinue it!

Great chocolate mix, perfect for those with allergies! My daughter has allergies so I have been buying this mix for several years and love it. There are actual mini chocolate chips you can taste in the cupcake or cake. They are moist and taste great. It's a really easy mix that both kids and adults love!

Our family has multiple severe food allergies, so pretty much I need to cook everything from scratch. We bought this case of six chocolate cake mixes because one of our children is about to move into his first apartment, and he'll be fending for himself. I'm a great cook (really, I am), but the cakes from these are way better than I make. At first we were a bit concerned by the little chunks in the mix, but they are supposed to be there...so don't try to overbeat the batter. We can't find these mixes locally, and Amazon's price is cheaper than buying directly from Cherrybrook's website.

Delicious. Found out my daughter had an egg allergy right before her 1st birthday. Ordered this and it came right away. I did a test run before her birthday, and the cake came out ok. I put it in a heart shape cake pan. It was dry on the sides and took a very long time to cook the middle. I did another test as cupcakes, and they came out much better. Delicious. There are mini chocolate chips in the batter. I love this mix!

I heard about this cake mix on a food allergy blog and decided to try it. I'm so happy I did because I've found my go-to cake mix for birthdays and other cake-worthy occasions. My son has food allergies so it's nice that he can have a delicious cake and I love that it's incredibly easy to make. My daughter who doesn't have allergies loves it too.I made it as cupcakes and they rise really well unlike some of the other vegan mixes I have tried.

Several boxes were busted on the inside and cake mix everywhere when I opened package. 😡 I’m not sure if I will be able to use them.

I would never order this from Amazon again, although I will buy this cake mix again. The mix itself was great. HOWEVER...I ordered this for my daughter's birthday party with her grandparents. When we arrived and I opened the package, I realized that instead of the package of six, we had ONE. (We had ordered some other mixes, so it wasn't obvious until I opened the box.) Twenty minutes on the phone with someone who spoke decent English with a slight Indian accent was supposed to get us a new box of six cake mixes. The cake mixes arrived two days later than expected, toward the end of our trip. (Could have been T.S. Faye woes?) The even bigger problem? We received the gluten free mix, which is okay I guess (doesn't taste as good) but not at all what I ordered. I didn't really want to mess with it after that. I bought these to save a little money over the huge price in our grocery store, but I spent WAY more, when you consider that I only received one box of the product I ordered.P.S. - the cake mix itself is excellent.
