My new Favorite Omnibus ever made! It is a BEAUTY! A game changer! Genre-definer!
Chris Claremont is not only a legend, but he also took the whole x-men team under his wing, into his heart, to craft a full run of genre defining character development choc full of theater-like drama, as well as action packed fun. This is THEE most relatable super-hero team in the whole world of comics because they have human like traits. It could not be easy growing up in a world that dislikes you for who you are, all while trying to save that same world for the better. It cannot be easy growing up with powers that you have not been eased into, near uncontrollable powers that one must learn to control, all while also dealing with being young, being cast into a family-esque school of mutants that have not even learned themselves yet, let alone the others in the new school for higher existence. These stories aged so well. Themes being deal with then, are even more prevalent in the real world today. Mutants revolutionizing the idea of being cast out for the way they were born, so similar to todays movement in the news. Trying to work within a world that has yet fluidly tried to learn to work with them. Sound familiar?Enter the New Mutants!!!The first comic book title that was ever spun out of the X-Men. Dubbed by their now adult peers, the "X-Babies" struggle with identity, taking on situations no teenager has ever dealt with on this level. Learning on the fly, trying to prove oneself. The newest additions to the Xavier School... the team of Magik (Illyana Rasputin!), Danielle Moonstar, Cannonball, Wolfesbane, Sunspot, Magma, and newest addition, Warlock! Also, we get to see Kitty Pryde unwillingly sent to the X-Babies for guidance, as she comes of age herself. So much character development across the board in these genre defining stories. Look no further than this omnibus for the origin stories and development of every member of this team. THIS BOOK IS LOADED WITH EVERY ISSUE NEEDED.The Omnibus is mostly known for its core Arc Called "Demon Bear", which has hit theaters in the new film "New Mutants".Also enter the most game changing artwork by none other than BILL SIENKIEWICZ!!! Bill takes over on issue #18-31... in one year's time the man changed comics forever, with his artfully horrific, psychedellic style, which at the time, was not seen across comic distributors like Marvel or DC. So many artists have taken influence from Mr. Sienkiewicz, even if it was to open their own minds with their own styles, Bill showed that major comics could have a near indy style brought into the main publications. Changed the whole game forever.I love the Omnibus medium when it comes to collecting full runs of comics from yesteryear... but this book is like none other. Not only does it collect the entire Claremont/Sienkiewicz run on the title, but it also collects the 17 issues prior to Demon Bear!!! Also included is the amazing giant-sized issue of Marvel Team-Up #100 Spider-Man and the Fantstic Four, which joins the legendary stylings of Claremont with FRANK MILLER on Co-Story as well as Miller's artwork, as they unfold the brutal origin story of Karma....one of the most polarizing characters to impact the New mutants from the jump!Just when you think that is enough, you also get the chilling origins of Illyana Rasputin and her SoulSword, her escape from purgatory as she ages nearly a decade overnight, changing her into the legendary character MAGIK! Her story unfold in X-Men: Illyana and Storm #1-4, collected here in thos giant omnibus! (Magik happens to be my favorite character in all of comics!! As a young fella that fell in love with comic books over 35 years ago, at the time, I had never read a story like like this. It was so different for the era, adding a horror vibe along with a sci-fi type of element to the hero/villian lot that we had come to know. This 4 issue run changed my life as a reader. It was "MAKE MINE MARVEL" from that day forward. Re-reading this at age 46, it is still as strong as it was when I had barely aged enough to read comics as a young lad!Rounding out this amazing collection of comics, is the New Mutants #1-34, the rare, valuable MARVEL GRAPHIC NOVEL 4 (The origin of each of the original 4 members of New Mutants (Cannonball, Sunspot, Danilelle Moodstar (aka Psyche), and Wolfesbane, New Mutants Annual 1, Magik 1-4, Uncanny X-Men #'s 160, 167, 180, 189, 192, and the Marvel Team-Up 100, 149!!! Every issue impacting this team as well as comics around them forever!Claremont, Sienkiewicz, also with major contributions from well known writers/artists like Sal Buscema, Bob Mcloud and more!50 game changing comic books collected into one phenomenal omnibus! The book weighs nearly 9 LBs!!! One of the Strong bindings to date, and beautiful paper stock that restores this mindblowing artwork and story for fans of the genre! To me, this was a no brainers because we get to see Bill Sienkiewicz's genre defining art style in glorious rendition . Cementing his work as well as claremont and the other legends which impacted this squad. At this price, it is a no-brainer!!! Get your's while it is so affordable and in print!

Sienkiewickz/Claremont rule!
I remember when I first read the New Mutants and the shock between the beginning and the coming of the Maestro.. Claremont at his best with Bill elevating this comic to the top!

What's up with those men
I mean what can you say about those mutants you know they put on the damn good read there and story lines are always crisp and they come together and there's a you know all kind of escalating chaos if you will look at the end it all seems to be just big old friends that come back together party

Its Goooooooooood
Massive book and good quality. I've never seen Marvel make an omnibus this size, usually only DC does. I really don't understand Marvel's omnibus pricing. A book this size would be marked $150 if it was published by DC. So, seeing it marked $125 is great, but strange because I've seen books by marvel that are super skinny and low page count marked $125 still. I'm surprised Marvel didnt slap a higher tag on this like they usually do. Thank you Marvel for not over charging for once!

Stories are still great today
I had forgot about a lot of these stories. It’s been a long time since I read them & they are just as good now as they were back then. Very excited for Volume 2 later this year. Got a good deal from Amazon & it was packaged well. There was no damage during shipping. If you are a fan of X-men from this era then pick up this omnibus, you will not be disappointed.

Great Book!
This book is great! My only problem is, I wish Marvel would "cut" these large omnibus volumes in half. What I mean is this book is, this book is 1272 pages and heavy, and in my opinion, it should have been split into two roughly 630 page volumes. But that is just my opinion, and not many people seem to care for what I have to saw, so what do I know?

Perfect collection of New Mutant Comics
First off, this thing is heavy. I mean it has some serious weight to it which is a good thing. No skimping on the quality of the paper or the binding. This thing is made to last. Bright white pages and great colors. Plus, a great bunch of stories. You won't be disappointed.
